This is being passed along on Facebook:

There's a site called and it's an online phone book that has a picture of your house, credit score, profession, age, how many people live in the house, your interests, etc.

I checked it out and personal info is there altho some is comically wrong - like my ex-husband and youngest son both living here and both are listed as 40 years old!! And my house being worth more than $1 million! What a joke!

If you've ever filled out a profile form and it asked for your interests, that most likely is there. For some of the information you are required to subscribe but at less than $3 a month, many people will subscribe.

Remove yourself clicking on the word Privacy on the bottom right. It's in small print. Caution: before you click on privacy, copy the URL because you'll need it to request privacy. I went back to the original page to do that and now it won't let me back to the site for the privacy form. I've closed it and reopened and it still won't let me in to the privacy part. I'm hoping after I reboot it will.

Pass this along to others, please.

I did remove myself from it, but the information was basically incredibly inaccurate. It did have my address, and my approximate age, and was almost correct about when my house was built. Just about everything else - Zodiac sign, interests, etc were wrong. Most of the information was actually a profile of my zip code - which is available in a whole bunch of places on the internet.

Interestingly, my husband chose not to remove his profile because he didn't want to enter his email address at their site. He figured that everything there could easily be discovered in just a few minutes of internet search.

There are web sites that anyone can pay to be a member and find out tons of information. It's amazing what is given out as a public record. The details of the information given depends on what level you pay for, as there are three different fee's on most of the web sites. For $250.00 per year you can get lots of information, which is a lot cheaper than private investigators, if the need ever came about. Plus the records are updated. One web site still has me as being 23 years old. I kinda like that one! LOL

Thanks so much for the info!. I removed the entry for myself, which was 99% erroneous.

Wow. This is pretty shocking. Quite a bit of our info was accurate. How do they know this stuff? Excuse me, but I have some old boyfriends to look up!

Most of the information on me was outdated, with maybe fifty percent of that info accurate at one time or another. The pictures of me were all wrong though, except for one of me at halloween wearing a mask, lol.

Some real inaccurate stuff here. Kind of funny though. It got the caucasian thing right but it also said my wife's name is Lakeesha. Go figure.

It had almost everything wrong...listing both my wife and I in the apartment but ranking us both as single, which seems odd.

It looks like a scam IMO to sell software called Reputation Defender to automatically bar your personal information from appearing on websites like Spokeo. Ironic, isn't it.

I think you're right, Pepperdoc, cuz all of the credit ratings I saw were below average and neighborhoods were being described as below average, even when I know that isn't the case.
