DELETED THREADS

I'm going to start keeping track of deleted threads, and why they were deleted.

----------------------------------------------
"Life Goes On" - deleted

Reason:
"[PLAYER NAME WAS HERE], I am not happy you are still here. You are the single worst example that comes forth on this forum and TT. I was responding to the post about Jank. Oh boo hoo she was your friend and Felix another foul mouthed member who never had
anything good to say about anyone. My posts belongs wherever I put them and you are not the forum police, or sploofus
police or any damn authority, thank God. Now go pet your dog like a nice lady."

----------------------------------------------

Violates the spirit of the TOU. Argumentative, condescending and rude posts like this will be zapped on sight here in the SD.

Justin

That's just wrong. There is another thread on the SD that was more inflamatory than the one that was deleted? There was a post deleted , but not the thread entirely?

Laura, Wouldn't a tattoo have been easier than an engraving?

I think you should create a new forum for these called graveyard or something, J.

Interesting that the inflammatory part was reposted?

Could be that it was reposted as an example of what is NOT acceptable.

So I guess I can't post on a post that was deleted. Okay this is ridiculous and I think I made my point anyway.

It was my understanding that we would be given a reason why posts were/are deleted. Several were deleted this morning and no reason seems to be given. Just curious.

Wow! Up till now, I hadn't paid a whole lot of heed to the "unfair deletions" comments (mostly because I assumed the ones that were being deleted were nasty, inflammatory, or whatever), but the whitewashing of Justin's Go Platinum!!! thread is really troublesome. It seems there really is a party line that must be toed.

I suppose I'm naive enough to be surprised by the deletions. I definitely care enough about the site to be troubled by the direction in which the board "monitoring" appears to be moving. I hope it stops...and that this comment, which clearly does not violate the TOU, doesn't disappear into the ether along with all the others!

I don't know of course I'm only guessing.....but I've only had one post deleted the whole time I've been here, not for being inflammatory but for being "off topic" on a thread that was started by Justin. I saw the threads that were deleted this morning, and while not "too" inflammatory, they did seem to be off topic on Justin's thread.

As far as it being not fair, Justin did delete his own response on that thread.......

Disclaimer: not intended to be the truth or a final explanation, just a possibility here!!!

I'm not sure whether the thread devolved after I posted. Quite possibly! The deletions to which I referred were simply 1mks commenting that Justin's second post was less than friendly. I think my post consisted of "I had the same reaction, 1mks." I guess they were deleted because Justin chose to delete his own post, so the two later comments no longer made sense. While I understand his reasons, I felt as though a clarification/retraction/apology would have been a better response than deleting all evidence of the conversation.

That said, I'm rooting for all good things to come Justin's way. I wish nothing but the best for him. I just feel these unnecessary deletions are getting really creepy, since they're altering the true reality of the threads and substituting one that's controlled by "the few" (or, in this case, "the one").

I'm all for the rapid deletion of any post that violates TOU. Can't get rid of them fast enough, IMO. I think posts that DON'T violate the TOU should be inviolate, however. Members who are playing by the rules should be able to express themselves.

Granted, I may be a bit hormonal today

I agree with Asor about the deletions, especially the ones that are not violating the TOU. I pay for the Gold membership just so I could post and talk in the shout box. Prior to paying, I was happy just to take quizzes and kerblunks. I started paying after a 3 month Gold gift. If any more of my posts that I KNOW are NOT violating the TOU, why bother to post, therefore; for me personally, I'll just go back to the way I started. I can even set my zoom so to not see the side ads.
