OK Mitchy you finally got me.
I promise not to take one of these quizzes until they dissipate from off the 'most recent' list.

By the way didn't spot your name on the taker's list either....

That took some planning.

Its not fair at one stage Gerdieducks had the whole page full of his quizzes.

I wish that Editors use their discretion when they launch quizzes. I don't consider my quizzes the best in the world but I would like them to stay on the front page for a couple of hours before being superseded by 20 quizzes about Humphrey's characters.

The editors don't have a choice. When we sign on to edit we have to take the next quiz in order. If we just let that quiz sit in our editing box, we cannot take another one. If the quiz meets the basic Sploofus requirements, we have to approve it.

Dear Sploofinder, can you not even let them have every second quiz as it can get a bit of a pain seeing a whole page taken over, it's like an invasion on the whole page by one person, no?

Have any of you all stopped to consider that there maybe a legitimate or personal reason why gerdieducks is writing all these quizzes? If you haven't maybe you should.

Ya mean like someone's quizzes?

Actually Gerdieducks' quizzes are on a variety of topics. Right now I see a Humphrey Bogart, one on TV series characters, another on crime fighters, for example. The questions themselves within the quizzes are formulaic, however.

You're right, Frankielaine72. Same old handful of quiz writers having the same old problem. And their quizzes have become quite boring.

I don't even bother to look at quizzes by certain authors, much less take them.

I think what Vickie was trying to say in her polite way was that maybe writing all of these quizzes is a type of therapy for gerdieducks. Perhaps there is an illness and writing the quizzes takes his mind off the illness, or perhaps he has lost a spouse or dear friend and writing the quizzes fills that void. There are all sorts of reasons we do things. Who knows what is the motivation.

Those of you who write quizzes can get together and post kudos to each other's quizzes in The Hit List under community, that way you'll get a little extra boost to your quiz. I know it's not quite the same as being on the front page, but it might give that forum a little more publicity and action.

I know it is frustrating to have your quizzes disappear so quickly, that is understandable. But maybe there needs to be some compassion shown.I think that is what Vickie was saying.

I haven't written any quizzes for a long time. I'm just not motivated to do so right now,

I'm glad other players make those contributions. Sploofinder's answer explains much about the process.
Let's not get too bent out of shape about a prolific quiz writer,

If a therapy is needed, a shrink will do the job. I used to take his quizzes but I have stopped. He/she has only managed to depreciate his/her own quizzes with this overkill.

Thanks Pat for backing me up..that was exactly what I was trying to say without stepping on anyone's toes. Evidently I did anyway...I guess trying to be the voice of reason on here isn't the correct thing to be as NO ONE seems to listen ya all can just go back to your bitchin' and gripin'...My voice will be silent...

You GO GIRL, Vicky! and Pat, too.
Speaking for myself only, quizzes are all I do most of the day, so I'm glad that ANYONE writes a lot of them.
I've always appreciated the authors for writing quizzes. I tried once and forget that for me! LOL I'd much rather be
the quiz taker than the quiz writer. Too much work to write a quiz just for the heck of it for me.
Hip Hip Horray to ALL quiz writers, no matter how many or where to find them!

I write quizzes as a therapy to help take my mind off the problems that I have with my husband being ill, but part of that therapy is being able to have people see and do my quizzes. I am not in a position to write hundreds of quizzes
With the current influx of quizzes from one or 2 writers and my quizzes being bumped off quickly, the writing of quizzes doesn't really help me all that much anymore... so now I write them IF I feel like doing it.
Probably to keep going on about it doesn't really help because the people churning out the quizzes like that have their own agenda and aren't really interested in anyone else and for that matter don't seem to care...

Don't you think that folks who want to find your quizzes, find them anyway?

I used to write a lot of quizzes. Well, a lot for me. I think I have a bit over 200 quizzes under my belt. And then life got in the way, and I notice that I haven't written a quiz since September. But periodically, I look at my list of quizzes that I've written, and I discover that they are still being taken. In fact, I see that I rank 137th in quiz authoring for the month - which is pretty funny, considering I haven't written a quiz in over half a year. So people are still finding those quizzes.

Sure I agree that more people take the quizzes if they are on the "new" page. But, obviously people who either like the topic of the quiz or follow an author will look those quizzes up. I know when I go to take a quiz, I go to the topic page, and choose one that way.

And I'll bet that these folks will burn themselves out pretty soon. I remember certain other players who used to be quiz writing machines, and who now are seldom seen.
