MOVING THROUGH TIME ZONES

If I travel from one time zone to the next, so that one minute it's 5:59 and the next minute its 5:00, have I lost an hour or gained an hour??

I fell like I lost it...but I guess, since my day becomes longer I have gained. It's like a "do-over" hour.

You've gained what your clock has lost. It's The Law of Conservation of Time.

You've gained or lost nothing - only your 'artificial time' clock has.

Well I do lose one hour of sleep.

I am taking students across a time-border and I keep saying we will lose an hour, since we will drive for 11 hours but arrive in 10. Other people keep trying to make me say gain an hour and it just feels wrong to me! The clock goes back, that feels like a loss.

But from the point of view of you "getting to relive the hour", it's a gain.

If I was born at 11:06 pm on August 23rd in San Diego, it would have been 2:06 am August 24th in Boston. Does that mean if I move from San Diego to Boston my birthday becomes August 24th?

I like that. I would be a dya younger!

Each time I fly east outta Oz, (usually Stateside), I do the same day twice on the way over, and lose a day on the return journey.

Somehow I often seem to lose a couple of hours on the way back from the pub ...
But I walk over Horsell Hill (in fact I live on the xxxx thing) - H.G. Wells land and all that - so maybe it's not surprising!
