KENTUCKY DERBY

Got my hat ready!
My assistant says "Everyday is Kentucky Derby Day for you"
I'm going to Gulfstream race track here to watch and bet.

Here's the field:

The field from the rail out is: Lookin At Lucky, 3-1; Ice Box, 10-1; Noble's Promise, 12-1; Super Saver, 15-1; Line of David, 30-1; Stately Victor, 30-1; American Lion, 30-1; Dean's Kitten, 50-1; Make Music for Me, 50-1; Paddy O'Prado, 20-1; Devil May Care, 10-1; Conveyance, 12-1; Jackson Bend, 15-1; Mission Impazible, 20-1; Discreetly Mine, 30-1; Awesome Act, 10-1; Dublin, 12-1; Backtalk, 50-1; Homeboykris, 50-1; and Sidney's Candy, 5-1.

Any favorites? Preferably a Perfecta or Trifecta and a WINNER! LOL

It would be nice to make some money off of Paddy O'Prado or Make Money Off Me with the odds they're showing. I just love the hoopla attached to it all. The Preakness and the Belmont are great fun too, especially if one horse is going for that Triple Crown. It's been a long time...

Mine That Bird pulled off a 50-1 shocker last year!
Played it and WON!

I always play a long shot, but looks like alot of them this year.

In 2008, I had the Perfecta-Big Brown and Eight Belles.

Who's up on them? I always bet the jockey...at least in my head! Do you sing the new words or refuse to Bowdlerize?

Nice links, I wonder who the "story" will be this year? That's part of the fun in watching it all. Will a famous trainer win? I don't think Baffert has won recently has he? He was on a streak going back wasn't he? I recall War Emblem because he ran in the Haskell which is local and I saw the horse run. What a beauty! It was early 2000's...'02 or '03. That horse won two thirds of the triple crown. So amazing to see up close, magnificent!

Yep-odds changing.

I like Sidney's Candy owned by Jenny Craig and Backtalk cause I know the owners, but he's only a 2-yrs. old.
Super Saver and Line of David....

Still looking. I'll know when I get there-LOL

I've read this post, given it considerable thought, and my pick is
Sidney's Candy
Why? Sidney = Sidney Crosby and what's not to like about candy?
GO PENS!!!!

Ok. I'm betting my 10,000 Sploofus points on Paddy O'Prada because Iike the name and the jockey's uniform colors.

I actually have done well in the past using this betting strategy! LOL

Wish me luck.

Looking at Ice Box now
Won the Florida Derby
(and I like the colors)

My aunt use to make all the silks for the jockeys. BIG business would you believe? I still have some of the caps we made.

I gotta go check the liquor cabinet to see if I have ingredients for Mint Juleps. We never miss the Derby even if we are watching it from our TV.

Paddy runs good in the slop.

Help me out here-where's Chyanne? She picked the 2008 winners!

K-getting ready; getting excited!

Someone's comment prompts this suggestion. Wouldn't it be nice if Platinum players could place a side bet of points on the derby, using their Sploofus points (with a limit, of course, like on all wagers). Since points have no value, nothing is actually being bet, therefore no gambling laws apply. Other events? Maybe. But it seems natural for the Derby (The "Greatest Two Minutes in Sports") to be first.

I know it's too late for this year, but maybe the future?

Calvin Borel on Super Saver! He's some kind of jockey isn't he? Totally different winners than I thought, lots of money may have been won. Sadly, I wasn't a betting woman today.

That's what we get for betting against Calvin Borrell. We should know better.

BUT ... you have to admit that Diva and I did pretty well with our bets on Ice Box and Paddy O'Prada!

There is still plenty of time to place bets on the grandfather of all Derbys,The Epsom Derby over here in England. Now that's real class!

I'm not certain, that betting on horse racing implies, class, Wordster, okay, if it makes you feel better!
