It appears that there is now a 4-5 day delay between launch date and the date a quiz finally goes live. Is it just a temporary situation because the Community Quizzes have to be reviewed, or is that something that can be expected regularly now?

We have gotten no response from Justin from our various chat posts about using the date a quiz goes live rather than the launch date, at least to calculate the 10 days for "Top 25", assuming we get up there. Since sometimes a quiz goes live immediately and sometimes from 3-5 days after being launched, there is an inequity in how long the quizzes remain in the T25.

Sorry. We do have a very long queue right now, mainly because there are so many new members writing quizzes. Please try to be patient-- sometimes real life gets in the way of our editing duties.

You folks have been wonderfully industrious in your creation of quizzes lately, and since our ten most productive Editors cashed their prizes this week, and internet connections from Tahiti are notoriously flaky, you know how it is; we've been a bit shorthanded.

I know that are times when the queue will grow and other times when it will be short. But there is no reason they can't adjust the launch date to the day the quiz went live. I have a quiz where the first person to take it was Sept 27 but the launch date shows Sept 24.

I agree with Maurlin and Sargon. If the clock can't start running on the date the quiz goes live, then maybe the eligibility window for the Top 25 should be (re)extended to 14 days or more.

I will change the quiz date to the moment it is launched by an editor, which will affect the Top 25 very positively and solve our problem.

Please be advised that due to the extraordinary concern and quality expectations of Sploofus vs. "the other sites", the time between authoring a quiz and having it launched remains important, but not relevant to who we (including you) are: The best trivia community on Earth!

Our editors remain volunteers, are under no pressure or deadlines, and there will never be a guarantee on editorial "wait time". It will wax and wane, but it is all worth it.

So here is a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to quiz writers AND quiz editors!

Thanks Sploofus. It great to have a site that listens to its members and keeps improving.

I love the change to when the quiz launches. Thanks, Sploof!

Justin- Your change to the GO LIVE date will take care of the problem, but when does the update to the "Live Date" begin? Last night, 09/29/2006, at 23:37 I received the message "Quiz accepted: Kids Opposites." That would mean that the date listed on the quiz should be 9/29/06. What still shows on the start page of the quiz is "Kids Opposites By Maurlin on 09/26/2006".

You should also note, as an aside, that during a CQ submission window like the one current underway, the queue will appear bigger than it really is. There is a bubble of approximately 45-50 quiz sitting off to the side, but still be counted. So, for example, if the quiz queue shows 127 quiz, like it is at this moment, it is really something closer to 70-75.

Many editors will be attending to the regular run of quizzes and let other editors attend to the CQ batch, never fear!

Certainly understandable and reasonable. I expect that right before Community Quizzes go live. My concern is putting the date the quiz goes live rather that the date it was launched. One of my now-live quizzes has the "live" date of 9/30, and the one that went live after that, on 9/30, lists the launch date of 9/27, which makes it appear it went live a few days ago. In the total scheme of things, not a biggie, but just in case one happens onto the Top 25, I want it there for as LOOOONG as possible. Now I'll stop whining, at least for a while.

I really appreciate all of the hard work of all of you editors, especially since it's all voluntary. I'm through rambling. Thank You All.

I can promise you that the Community Quizzes hold nothing up at all.

On average, some 350/500 quizzes are edited per week. The CQs are a pinprick in that workload.

At that average editing rate, you can see that any hold-ups at all are purely due to increased incoming new quizzes being ABOVE that 350/500 per week rate!

The only problem seems to be that Sploofus is simply too popular and too successful!

I just had a quiz approved and it shows the launch date. A difference of 4 days.
