I have some sad news for the Sploofus community.
Our friend and Sploofbuddy Iain (Rockiton55) died of cancer a couple of days ago.

The Word Round devotees will know his name well.

His wife Sharon asked me to inform you of his passing........he went gently last Tuesday, with loved ones present to see him off peacefully.
He will be missed by all those who knew him.

I still owed him a thank you, for weeks, and looked for him two nights ago, saw he was still profiled, but not around. Thought: "He must be on vacation". I'll message him later.

There's a lesson there.

Thank you Iain....hope you know that somehow.

Sad. Our condolences to the family. We know he was suffering with the cancer. If there is any good to find, it is in knowing he is no longer suffering.

Sad, very sad. I come back from seeing The Who to see that a fellow rocker has passed.

While I never really chatted with him directly, I saw the humor and wit that he brought into the room when he entered.

My thoughts are with his family.

R.I.P. Rock. If there's a rock and roll heaven,...they've got one hell of a band.

Wow...this really threw me for a loop.

There have been many times I have wondered what would happen if something bad happened to someone would we know?

Now I know that there is an incredible community here.

Rock on...Rockiton....Peace be with you....

Oh and Sploof...

I know that when your membership expires you kinda fall into the abyss....

Can we somehow have a "retired" something so when you click on his name you don't get nothing....maybe a "Retired Sploofuser" icon.

Just my 2

I've been here for a while and never knew Rock. Though, I have seen his name on the member list. But, it seems like he was a great guy. Sorry I didn't get the chance to know him. I suck at the word rounds, so I hardly ever do them. Kinda makes you think, life's too short, live it up while you can. Sounds like that's what he did.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Take Care

I wasn't aware that he was ill. This is very sad, and he will be missed. Boy, I didn't start getting tears until I read all the messages in this posting. The Sploofus community is the BEST.

Although I've never actually talked with him since I'm not much of a chatter, I enjoyed reading his postings.

Aw, geez, really?

I'm really sorry to hear this. I only knew him from the WR chat, but he clearly had a lot of friends. My thoughts are with you guys. Turn it up to eleven for him this weekend sometime.

Very sad indeed, enjoyed Iain's company and humour most weekday morningsm (UK time), I know he used to have trouble sleeping cause of the pain. As a fellow Scot I'll raise a glass or two of 15 year old Springbank to his memory.........Slainte!

Sad to hear of Rockitons passing. My sympathies to his family. I lost my dad to cancer so I can imagine what they are going through right now. May he rest in peace.

I received an email from Iain's wife Sharon this morning, thanking all members of the Sploofus community for their expressions of sympathy and best wishes.
I had C&Ped all the contributions that you had made, and sent them to her, so she would know how we feel.
We have all lost a Sploofbuddy, but hers is the greatest loss.

From Sharon:~

"I can't find the words that fill my heart right now, my family and I were so overwhelmed with such comfort and warmth that came from Iain's (Rockiton55) Sploofus fellow quiz players, in fact as I sat here and read each and everyone's personal message tears flowed freely .. Please please express my deep gratification I know Iain would have been so honoured and humbled, I have forwarded everyone's messages to his family in Australia so that they know just how proud I was of him, Bev please also tell Justin I was so touched so moved at his words and the in memory of Rockiton55 on the logo of the new sploofus talk I thank Him and each and everyone of you from the bottom of my heart
God Bless each and everyone of You

I just noticed Iain is in the top 100 quiz authors. It would certainly be nice to see him rocket up one last time. I'm taking his quizzes. I urge others to do the same.
