NEED ADVICE ON WINDOWS 7

I'm considering upgrading to Windows 7. I would like to know how satisfied you are with Windows 7 and especially if you installed it as an upgrade to an older program. THanks

I've been using Windows 7 for about 2 weeks, Pat, and really love it. It's a new Dell desktop though as opposed to an upgrade.

I have it on a relatively new laptop, not an upgrade. No problems so far.

If I'm not mistaking, any new computer that uses Windows is Windows 7. It's just a fancier version of Windows Vista. I've had my new laptop for 3 weeks now and really don't see a huge difference, but then again, I don't do a whole lot on the lap top. Maybe when I get home and use the new desk top, I'll see a bigger difference.

Hubby has loaded windows 7 into his desktop and likes it a lot. He never had vista so can't compare. I'm still on xp, so sue me.

Just be forewarned - you can't just upgrade, like you've been able to do in previous versions of Windows. You need to uninstall all your programs, install Windows 7, then reinstall everything else.

Personally, I prefer Linux.

thanks everyone. Hmmmm, that upgrading business sounds a lot more complicated than what I want to undertake. Maybe one of my kids will do it for me.

I agree with your take on upgrading. I have Windows 7 the way most here have it... new computer. I like a lot.

There should be careful instructions in the Windows knowlegde base that should tell you exactly what needs to occur though to install. Read them and see if its too "techy". Its worth a read and you should have a copy handy no matter who does it anyway.

If you're considering an upgrade, how old is your computer? You might be better off with a new one...they are getting way cheap.

Windows 7 is great Pat. I've had my new netbook almost a month now and am very happy with it. I have vista on my desktop and it doesn't perform as well with internet explorer.

the modem broke down on my desktop so comcast technicians who were marveling over my new pink netbook explained the difference between vista and windows 7.

vista gives me a lot of pop-ups; but windows 7 doesn't and is a lot smoother. the technicians explained windows 7 was created to get the kinks out of vista. i would recommend windows 7 .
