A tricky and interesting puzzle.
Got caught on a tense change but other than that found it challenging and enjoyable.

I went and checked on the tense issue and I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about. It's a bit of a weird situation though which I can't comment on until after the puzzle, except to say that in that instance the tense couldn't be changed without changing the meaning. I am trying to be more mindful of the tense issue, but sometimes I get caught up in the struggle to get one particular phrase to work cleanly (and that particular phrase was a real pain - tried to get the details I found interesting into the phrase, but could only in a kind of clunky way).

Anyway, my apologies.

Glad you're keeping an eye on those tense changes, Sploofishy. Thanks. I didn't see anything tricky on mine, so I guess I was lucky. Enjoyed the puzzle.

Can you post the tricky one afterwards? It might help explain when it's necessary for authors to use multiple tenses.

It was great. A couple I got in very few moves (one with no clues at all - a first for me!) - but there were two which really caused me problems. But those made it very interesting!

Yep, I had the tense issue, too. I can see how this is a hard call for the puzzle-ist and the editors, and I guess the prudent and cautious player's strategy is to guess that troublesome letter, or risk the 3-turn hit. Being the imprudent player, I got nailed. Serves me right.

Thanks for the challenge!
