Can't think which WP it was, but recently there was one about nobody being able to sneeze with their eyes open. Can you? Because I can and do! Apparently a small minority of people can do it...I wondered how many of us? You know who you are....if you're a driver. Please weigh in on this important issue.

But how hard do you sneeze? I work with a woman whose sneezes are basically, "Snik, snik, snik." Mine can be heard two rooms away.

I was told if you sneezed with your eyes open they would fly out of your sockets, lol! so i tried it, and I had no trouble with doing it, and I still have my eyes lol!

I sneeze hard! Have an allergy to cold, and sneeze really hard then. But the eyes stay open easily. And yes ha ha they don't fall out of their sockets (yuck). I think at the start of the sneeze I open my eyes wide, and then keep them open. But am told that most people cannot do this, some joint response thingy.

Mythbusters tackled the eyes bulging, or flying out part. Neither Jaime or Adam could sneeze without closing their eyes, but Adam held them open and sneezed. No pressure bulge at all. My thought is that the reflexive closing that most have is probably a protection from getting the sneeze blown back into the eyes.

I have no idea if I can sneeze with my eyes open! I'm still laughing at the woman whose sneezes sound like "snik, snik, snik", what an audio thought!

I tried really hard yesterday and can't do it. Luckily they only stay closed for half a second. I recommend slowing down a bit if you are driving and sneezing at the same time....
