We learn by our mistakes (currently cost me 2nd place) I now know more about the subject than I did...i suppose the knowledge was cheap.

I really enjoyed it and thought it was well-designed. Challenging and interesting. Thanks for a lot of fun!

Challenging and educational. Thanks.
I certainly know more now than when I started the puzzle.

Not the easiest puzzle for me. However, i didn't get too alarmed about my lack of knowledge of some of the topics.
Definitely learned some interesting things.

The Red phone = the DEW line?

I must be too young but one lives and learns.

Interesting! I liked learning about some of the tactics used. Thanks!

The DEW line took me *forever* to solve. It's bad enough to have one unfamiliar abbreviation, but to have "ICBM attacks" instead of, say, "bomb" was just mean. Especially since I think it should have been IRBMs or another mid- or short-range missile form -- the system was evidently useless against long-range ICBMs and was abandoned when they came into common use.

It made "klaxton" seem like a breeze.

A really interesting WP, griping aside.
