A friend sent this article where the results of a study by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute on basic civics knowledge was published.

Everyone needs to take the abbreviated quiz (33 questions).

Most elected politicians who took the quiz FAILED.

The test has been conducted for the past 5 years against incoming freshman, 1/2 of the 14,000 who took it FAILED. College seniors who were retested scored 54% correct (Many University students actually scored LESS as seniors than as entering freshmen). No school (including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, etc.) scored above 69%.

Take the quiz, see how well you know what you're talking about.

Thank you for this post. I've requested the report and will use this for discussion purposes when I help instruct a workshop in July.
Civics is a word that your rarely hear anymore.

Wow 30 out of 33. Not bad for a Canadian.

I'll give this to the social studies tutor at work. I thought a couple of them were vaguely worded, but not bad, overall.
