There's not much about the triples genre that hasn't been said before. Three random words, some of which have more to do with the clue than others....these just don't seem worthy of the intense effort that goes into writing so many of the other themed puzzles.

Count my vote amongst those who would like to see "the triples" reborn in some other form. I don't want to denigrate the fine, fine work that all of our puzzlers do, but these triples just don't seem to be of the same nature. I'm sorry.

Please note that this is just my opinion, and I don't expect, for a moment, that my vote carries more than the tiniest smidgen of weight.

Sploofusaurus writes some excellent WPs (and was a great WP editor when I was writing those), but I'm afraid I agree the triples aren't up to snuff. Ideally, WPs are reasonably interesting, reasonably clever, or both. (Perhaps the recent call for Platipuzzles is an indication that the Editors' WP cupboard is just about bare.)

Dasfunk, our combined opinions might now carry a DOUBLE tiniest smidgen of weight!

Certainly lighter on fun, amusement, and edification than many of the others, but I'll admit I was relieved not to have to do any heavy lifting this evening

This was a far better triples puzzle than the most recent ones -- but as you might have guessed I'm not sure that's saying much!

Of course mixing up the demands of the puzzles is also a good idea; let's say its fair to have one triples puzzle every month (or year/decade if you prefer)?
