We're in upstate NY near Albany (on a line with Boston and Syracuse) and just went outside to see haze and smell woodsmoke. Not sure if it's the Canadian fires or just a local brushfire. If you've smelled the smoke from the fires in Quebec, could you post? I know that Montreal is completely covered, and just saw an item from Cape Cod.

Hubby just got to Montreal about an hour ago. Will post when I hear from him.

The satellite maps of the fires are very scary and impressive. That is indeed what is in the air. But I have a cousin who lives in Montreal, and she says that it is not affecting Montreal at all. My friends in upstate NY in the Adirondack area say it is very hazy.

I hadnt thought to check here. . but I am heading for Halifax and an elderhostel for 10 days in Nova Scotia on June 29. I'm wondering what to expect in the way of temperature. I've heard it never gets warm up there. Anybody really know? I check the Halifax weather occasionally and it doesnt seem too bad. Are they having weird weather like we are in central California? Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for the updates. Lots of rain here now so smoke is moot. Read that Glens Falls NY was heavy with it, and we're an hour away, so it probably was.

I have been to Halifax, but it has been in the fall. Expect warm weather and rainy days.
