I'm just wondering why I challenge someone each week, yet I am challenged about once a month? Does anyone know how this works? Do some people just save them for the end of the month or something? Please enlighten me on this if you know! Thanks.

Remember this post?

Lots of people simply do not use their showdown tokens, for various reasons. There are some folks who have *never* used any of their showdown tokens, and they've been members for over a year.

I admit, if I had a slow connection, slow computer, or otherwise find it hard to answer a question in as little as a few seconds, I would challenge anybody, either.

But, since I have a fairly quick connection, I use mine every week. I don't always get them right (just ask ehodgson, or ncognit0, or lindsayc08, or ...) but I find it very fun.

Well, I don't remember the post 'cuz I just started coming into chat a couple of weeks ago. But I appreciate you letting me know - I don't always win either-lost 500k to Janey today 'cuz I was too slow-not my computer, me!

Some people are just too scared to gamble their hard won points. I have 61 showdown tokens and the last time I challenged and won was in July 2004 for a grand reward of 1,984 points.

I don't see challenging as a worthwhile investment of points. I am a net loser on challenges I have made and a net gainer when I have been challenged.

At the back of my mind I feel that Sploofus might think of making the weekly challenge COMPULSORY/ AUTOMATIC. The idea would be that, at 0001 hrs Monday every week everyone is entered into Showdown with player immediately above in rankings for a percentage of their points - I believe 5 pct would be fairer if non-optional.

As a signed-up scaredy-cat and point-hoarder I kinda hope nothing of the sort happens.

Eeewww!! Eeewwwww!! Why'd you even mention it then. Eeewwww!! I might as well sign a blank check for all my points to whoever is in front of me. And then I get Troypassion behind me and he beats me up on a regular basis even if I don't lose points. I would not vote for that idea. Eeewww! Nice going on your 19 second Word Round though, Matthew.

Seconding Diane's ewwwwws! Ewww! Ewwww! Ewwww! Ewwww! I don't have as many tokens as Matthew but I'm getting on up there. I don't have any desire to give any of my points away and that is what usually seems to happen to me. I'd be much happier if we had the option of deciding what kind of token we got, wager or showdown.

I actually would not mind having to do a showdown once a week, I enjoy them. My problem, as I have never used one showdown token, is I would not want to offend a person or take away their points. This is probably crazy thinking, as I do not mind it when other people challenge me. Actually, I often feel guilty when I win the showdown. Now that I think about it, I need therapy.

I use my showdowns whenever possible, hooked on them now. But its true, in over a month Ive been challenged, once.
Heres a weird thing though, I went to do a challenge today......and the person that would be my competitor is the person Im currently in a showdown with. Not sure whats up with that but I didnt bother rechallenging lol

I am a big chicken with my showdown tokens but my husband can't wait to use his. I would rather be challenged and then if I answer wrong or they beat me I at least don't lose any points.

I personally can't wait to use my tokens when they come on sunday. Apparently I am in the minority though. I've been on this site for 7 months now and been challenged twice. LOL. It would be nice to have no risk once in a awhile.

I wouldn't mind that, Imatfaal. I need some encouragement to use some of mine since it's been months since I actually challenged someone!

Same here. I lost almost 2 million in wagers last month and am hesitant to use a wager token let alone a showdown

Marmac... as I understand it... if YOU do the challenging and the other person loses... they do not lose any points. I think you can only lose points if YOU initiate the challenge.

On that note... I use my challenge tokens whenever I get them... yet I have NEVER yet been challenged.

You all are missing out! The adrenalin rush you get when taking the showdown quiz, then the next rush when u see you have mail regarding it-too fun! You all know, of course, that when you die all those points you've hoarded (sp?) don't go with you-they just go back to Sploofus. Is that really what you want?

Well i have 60+ showdown tokens too... my computer or connection is too slow and while I often answer the questions right - I am too slow. So I did used to challenge but I dont now. Havent been challenged for a long while though.

Well, I don't know if it was this topic, or what, but I have had 3 showdowns this week. 1 initiated by myself and 2 initiated by others. Lots of fun!
