This (entire) weekend I will be re-writing the TQOTD and Quiz programs to optimize performance and eliminate the timer delays, time outs, and error messages. I will not be changing any functionality or messing around with any features. I will simply be upgrading the scripts so that they work faster and do not result in delays and errors.

May I be the first to say hurray! Hasn't hurt me that much but the glitches definitely cost me points and a badge. I promise to be patient if the site gets balky while you're under the hood.

Justin, thanks for all you do to keep Sploofus the best thing on the internet. I may tend to use these boards when there's something to complain about and you don't hear much from me when everything's fine, but let it be known here and now that this place and these people have been the saving of me.

Love is not too strong a word.

Yes Justin - You are amazing - always trying to make the site better! And you do a great job I must say. Thanks for this amazing site.

Justin, between the need to keep this stuff scaling with heightened subscribership and the kvetching from us rank and file, I don't know how you don't flip out completely.

I for one am glad you don't.

I also want to say thanks, the game that I have played off and on for years.. long story but the company was bought out and the little games they no longer wanted, apparently it was in the contract that this particular game.. who was the first one written by the writers.. who have written somce very very big and popular games since, could keep it up themselves, which they did for about another 6-7 monthes... but it has been down for three months now.. and while I dearly dearly miss dragonsgate.. and this will never replace my rich fantasy life there.. i have not found a game worthy of replacing it.. so i went looking for something entirely different.. and I dearly love this game.. and so i looked at a ton of game sites. I could not go back to a fantasy adventure game because well there was no replacement for Dragonsgate. I tried all kinds of things, then I stumbled on this one.. and well I love it and I am thrilled with this place. I appreciate all that you do, even though I have complained loudly about the loss of my questions of the day due to answering and then watching the timer just creep away.. and leaving me with an error message etc.. but i would do it over and over and watch the timer go away and still love the site.. so appreciation is given freely and loudly..

Well if there's a love-in going on, count me in...

Mr Sploof,
This really is the finest site of it's kind; I'm so enamoured of it, and it's users, that I'll probably lose my job because of it...
Still, there are other jobs...

Thank you, Justin, for all the hours you put in trying to update this site, keeping it interesting, and the improvements. Maybe when you hear all the compliments, it will make up for some of the complaints you hear. All the variety of things to do on here gives everyone something to enjoy and look forward to. When things aren't going right in other areas of your life or you're having a bad day, you can always come to Sploofus regain a sense of control and feel some kind of accomplishment. The idea of giving everyone a command center and their own space was a great idea. The people I have met on here are, for the most part, down-to-earth fun loving people. It gives some otherwise lonely people a contact with the outside world they wouldn't have without it. One of the things that impressed me the most about it in the beginning is that you don't have to worry about foul language, abusive language and other things that seem to be so rampant

on other web sites, which I haven't seen, but have heard about. Thanks for keeping it clean!

I do miss the "WTHAI" and "Name That Tune". Hope they will be back soon.

I just tried to answer a TQOTD and it took unusually long to load. When I finally saw the question, I knew the answer immediately and hit it. But... although my answer was correct (one answered correctly 90.8% of the time), the response was that I exceeded the 30 seconds time limit so it did not count. How do I prevent this from happening again?

Although I am still working on the TQOTD delay problems, I am happy to report that the trivia quiz system has been overhauled and I just ran a ton of various tests:

The problem where the page would take forever to load after submitting the answer to the last question has been CONQUERED! Say "hello" to much faster trivia quizzes.

Thanks Sploof.

Just for your info, replying on behalf of my non-Gold son, SonOfSurrey, he's just today had yet another example precisely the same as the Fookie prob above.

Whatever you have done didn't work. I had correct answer on todays TQOTD in about 2 seconds and sat there while it timed out!

Me too. First time I have ever had a problem on tqqtd and I placed a wager of 8000+ points, knew the answer right away and got a time out error on the question! BOO HOO. Not a nice trick or treat!

Sploofus said he's fixed the QUIZ system, not TQOD, which he's still working on. Give him a chance!

Yes, my TQOTD timed out today after I answered. Thanks in advance for fixing it. Love my Sploofus!
