MOVIES SET IN SAN FRANCISCO WP

The Movies Set in San Francisco WP has its ups and downs. I don't want to telegraph anything, but the prospects that this wp will uncover gold is pretty high, and I don't think it's earthshaking to say so. I'm not trying to Milk anything here, but Lombard would be right at home with the Russians, if you know what I mean. Basically, what I'm saying is that most puzzles can't hold a Candlestick to this one.

Good job!

Fun one, Craig! Thanks!

Dasfunk, I noticed you didn't mention San Francisco's baseball team--I think that's a Giant oversight.

Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco. I left my brain there...

But a great puzzle - lots of fun!

And anyone who took 49 moves to complete the puzzle- well a nice lunch of rice a roni might taste good today.

I jotted down a list of likely films before I took the WP and ended up with two of them as puzzles. So now I'm wondering about the full list. Here were my guesses, with the two from my WP asterisked:

Bullitt
Dirty Harry
* Foul Play
The Maltese Falcon
Time After Time
Vertigo
* What's Up, Doc?

And these are the other three puzzles I got:

The Fan
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
The Towering Inferno

That conveniently adds up to ten. But which of mine didn't make the cut, and which ones am I missing?

Loved the WP and hope it's just the first in a long series.

Well, you missed Escape from Alcatraz, for one!

I had:

Basic Instinct
Days of Wine and Roses
Foul Play
Dirty Harry
Towering Inferno

From above, it looks like there was also:

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
The Fan
Escape from Alcatraz
What's Up, Doc?

So still one unidentified.

Some others I thought of:

Mrs. Doubtfire
High Anxiety
Pacific Heights
Experiment in Terror
The Woman in Red
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
Jagged Edge
Junior
The Presidio
Heart and Souls
The Conversation
Harold and Maude
Birdman of Alcatraz
The Rock
Zodiac
Take the Money and Run
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
The Pursuit of Happyness
Innerspace

I'm sure there are lots more.

Re Mickeym:

As a non-blonde I say "What's Up" with your criticism of my puns? Perhaps you could try to Laugh, Laugh, Just a Little, even if it's just a Cheap Thrill. This isn't exactly a Wicked Game we're playing here, you're supposed to have Ffun Ffun Ffun. In fact, I was Truckin' Around Here in Omaha with Mr. Jones when I saw your response.

Let me just say that Some of My Lies Are True, and I'm just Workin' For a Livin'. Honestly, I'm just an Everyday People kinda guy, and I Dance to the Music, even if it's just a Family Affair. You may think I'm a Joker, but I'm just going to keep on Rock'n Me, as I Take the Money and Run.

Given that I'm the New Kid in School at Sploofus, I'll just turn a Third Eye Blind to your remarks and try not to cry any Drops of Jupiter, after all You Were On My Mind, and from what I hear about Mickeym, She's a Beauty, so I Disappear My Separate Ways Any Way You Want It.

Faithfully,

Dasfunk

Dasfunk,
LOL. I just loved all the puns! Couldn't resist adding to them, but your song message is the best!
Just wish I could have worked Ashbury into it too!
Keep 'em coming,
Ann

If you're looking for a way to fit in Ashbury, perhaps you can see what Barry Bonds has to say on the subject. I hear you learn a lot when you Ashbury.

Dang it, I had the Giants on my mind, so I didn't go with the more obvious Garrybl reference. I'll have to Ashbury for forgiveness.

Huh. *Basic Instinct.* I'm surprised it made the list over *Bullitt,* which was the first one that came to my mind. But I'm just pleased the lower-profile *What's Up, Doc?* made the WP. I love that crazy little movie.

I thought the same thing--Bullitt is the quintessential San Francisco movie. Rarely has a place played such an important role in a movie, specifically the car chase up and down the city's many hills.

But, hey, it was Craig's WP and he can pick whatever movies he wants. I can see how certain parts of Basic Instinct may make that movie more "memorable" than some others.
