The data will explain it. It's to make a level playing field for all.

A level playing field? It's not working. If somebody joins today I'm already ahead of them. The only way to change that is to have everyone start over at zero each and everyday. Seems like a waste of time to me.

You know what I mean. It wouldn't be incentive to join if you found that the leader was 100's of millions of points ahead of you.
I have 100 showdown tokens to use. I've already used 1!

Or even billions of points ahead.

Aye Wordster, I know what you mean. I remember when I first joined and people were trillions and ba-gillions of points ahead of me. It was daunting. Intimidating even. It took me years of hard work to even crack the top 100, sometimes staying up late to play for hours to hit that next "billion point" plateau. This isn't real life, what I found out was that on this site hard work actually counted for something.

I do understand your perspective, and if it represents the owners of this site's perspective, then I understand it as well. There is a bit of "un-fairness" in being at the bottom merely because you joined later than others.

What I don't understand is why literal "years" of work counts for nothing, or, how its going to be different say in two years from now when all of us work hard (or not so hard) to achieve high levels of points again. If we have billionaires then, are they going to re-set the points over again to make others not feel intimidated? It's not even like socialism, I don't even get to keep a great deal of it!!! They can't just slow down the point increases the higher you get or something?

My point is what did I work for? I get nothing for that, nothing for all of those late nighters I pulled to accomplish some of that? I understand they have no value but I felt proud of my achievement, to me it represented "something", even though it was overshadowed by the achievements of those who were here longer or who were older in general ( or younger for all I know ) and had more "breadth" in knowledge than me, which is about what is "valued" on a site like this, to me it was a source of achievement and healthy pride about the learning I had done both on the site and off, among the other things I'm not going to take the time to list. I wouldn't even care if the points were private so nobody but me knew what they were, because I didn't accumulate so I could swagger and show others how many I had! I was just happy that I had done so well, and I am sorry to see my achievement go.

Today, I mourn the "death" of all my points, lol.

I know a lot of people feel that way; I find it liberating not to have to retain the position.
I can burn wagers, and never lose that status of having been at the top when it counted.
My first reaction is that wagers and showdowns should have a higher cap than as revised; if others agree I'm sure it will be amended.
Those who remember will recall Justin tinkering, introducing new games etc etc. I'm sure it will be the same; the powers that be havent had the experience to know what works; give them time.

I have over 250 tokens - and I'm still scared to use em! But, I guess, it is now or never.

I wasn't as high as you, and didn't jockey for position, it's not a burden I shared. I imagine it would be a relief! I don't mind some attempt at introducing the concept of "fair" into the game, but it does seem a bit of a boomerang solution as far as I understand it, the problem will return soon enough......as far as wagering goes, probably the amount to be wagered could be smaller, since the majority of the points at the top of the all time list are acquired that way. However, my experience of playing on this site last time, is that we talk about these things in the forum, and nothing new ever occurs, regardless of group consensus or suggestions otherwise. Perhaps that impression was wrong. Dunno about the new management, but I wouldn't hold my breath.....???

Well I guess I'm going to have to wait a while to challenge someone.
Not to worry though. I've been writing a bulletin for the last week but now I get to travel for 24 hours and by the time I get home at least one person will have overtaken me; watch out davidf....

I challenged one of our friends here and lost, lol. I seem awfully slow on those showdowns for someone who is fairly fast at WR's.....thanks for the idea Barry.
