Got your attention? LOL

I just thought that this was intereting. Overall, the takers of my quizzes break down to about 40%/60% male/female. I don't know what the breakdown is of members of the site, but it general, I would say, those are the averages of my 160+ quizzes.

My most recent quiz, Yummmm...Halloween candy, so far has a breakdown of about 3%/97% male to female. What does this say about our candy-eating habits. And what's wrong with the guys that they don't eat the stuff????

Something to ponder for the day...

Here's something I noticed, for what it's worth: for quizzes of mine that are predominantly taken by women, they have a higher rating on average.

I edited that quiz. I love candy corn.

This is all very interesting! Has anyone else noted any stats or trends?

When I went to look, I was curious to see which of my quizzes were considered "difficult". The highest difficulty level I have is a 6. It is interesting to note that my 5's and 6's fall into 2 categories. Movie trivia, and children's.

Difficulty Men/Women
6- Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird 11%/88%
5- Characters in Children's Literature 16%/83%
5- Pee-Wee's Playhouse 23%/76%

6- I Know I've Seen You Before 20%/80%
6- I Know I've Seen You Before Part 2 19%/80%
5- Movie Game!!!!!! 27%/72%
5- Movie Game!!!!!! Part Deux 20%/79%

Justin, is there a higher percentage of women overall on the site? That would explain the numbers. And what does this say about us women? That we have too much time on our hands? Surely not.

Through a quick sampling of my quizzes I found only one that was taken predominantly by men: Bourbon- Neat Quiz! 52% men 48% women.

So, women reach for the candy while the men are opting for the booze!

Interesting. Most of my quizzes are taken predominantly by females with a ratio of about (M)30-40%/(F)60-70%. The exceptions are my World's Strongest Man Quiz (understandable), my Houdini Quiz, and ALL of my geography quizzes. For these the ratio was reversed.

What was most interesting though, was my history quizzes. My series of This Week in History quizzes fit the higher female ratio. My series of What Happened First history quizzes are favored by the men. Very strange indeed!

I gotta take that quiz. When my sweet tooth kicks in, it's horrid. I have a small box next to my side of the bed that contains Skittles, Jelly Beans (my fave), Spice Drops and Hot Tomales. And there's a box of awesome fudge and toffee right next to me at this very minute.

I eat a few every night falling asleep to the Science Channel,...and then wonder why I can't go back to sleep when I wake at 2:30 AM.

To paraphrase Homer Simpson,..'Mmmm, candy',

When I take out the sports quizzes it appears to over 65% female. Chicks obviously dig me.

Most of my quizzes skew female. Orienteering breaks 50/50. Dungeons and Dragons and Millard Fillmore (!) got 2/3 male. Old USENET history 75% male. Two sports-oriented quizzes break the 80% male mark.

On the other side, Snow White and Dwarfs 8-14 go 80% female. The only two of my quizzes to skew even more distaff are a kids' quiz on my cats, and one on my colonoscopy. Guess we know who The Squeamish Sex is!

I have only one 50/50...

Beyond that...

Statistics are like a bikini, what they reveal is enticing, what they conceal is vital.

That's funny. I looked at the top 50 who took my ONE quiz and I get:

40% male
24% female
36% N/A

Anyone else notice this phenomenon???

My "serious" quizzes (designated by the word "poet" in the title) were taken by many more men than women, and the average age of the men was in the 50s-70s. They also wrote appreciative messages about the quizzes. They were reminded of their boyhood days when they learned the poetry.

My "fun" quizzes (designated by the word "celebrity" or "chicken" in the title) were taken by many more women than men, and their ages were all over the map. Just about all feedback for these was from women, and it was positive. Also, whenever a man took one, the rating dropped. Does this mean women are sillier than men? Can't be. Do women have a better sense of humor? Hmmmm . . .

This is my best guess about the situation, because of course I don't check the quiz ratings after each taker. But a trend does seem to have developed. Have I written myself into a corner? Would I rather that men or women take my quizzes? These are questions only a former poetry grad student and lapsed writer could honestly agonize about.

I have a very interesting,(to me especially), statistic. 100% of the last ten quizzes I have taken have been about 30% WRONG. Does this mean I am at least 15% stupider than I used to be? Maybe if I tried 100% I would raise my average to 90%. 50% of the time I have had at least one 7% beer before taking the quiz. At least 20% of the time I am interrupted during the quiz resulting in a 20%-30% time penalty. Just thought someone (2%?) would like to know. Thanks

My quizzes have had between 60 and 75% female takers with the exception of my sports quizzes which had predominantly male takers. My only Word Round inspired quiz ran closer to 50/50 which probably reflects the gender ratio of those playing WRs.

Just as an update, now, with many more takers, that Halloween candy quiz still has the same skew
4% male
96% female

And my husband came back from the store with candy for himself last night. I'll have to remember to taunt him. Of course, he really bought them cause he's cheap - and these were bags of red, white & blue summer colored gumdrops that were on sale for 24 cents for a huge bag. You know they are going to be as hard as a rock, and he'll end up at the dentist which will more than take away the savings of the candy.
