At the request of the membership, I am starting a thread here for players to post tips, hints and suggestions on how to make the Sploofus experience more enjoyable.

Here are a few tips to start us off:

- When at level __.0 with a wager token in hand, don't answer TQOTDs at all until your favourite category comes up, so you only ever wager at level __.0! Conversely, if you get a TQOTD in your favorite category while on a level __.5 or above, save that question until you hit level __.0 before you wager. But don't wait too long, as your unanswered questions expire 10 days from the day you receive them.

- If the Community Challenge category isn't available when you begin writing a quiz for the challenge, put it in any category while you write it, then correct the category when it becomes available (and before launch, of course!).

- When writing a quiz question and needing to leave a question mid-write, put anything, fullstop, whatever, in each answer field so there's *something* there, then you can accept the question without losing it and go back to finish it later.

- To achieve maximum speed in Word Rounds and Word Matches use a mouse with a scrolling wheel.

- To communicate with an editor after a quiz is launched but before it goes live, add a note to your quiz description.

Now, who can add to this list?

To increase your time when answering TQOTD, during quizzes, and during Word Matches and Word Rounds, hit the ENTER key instead of clicking on "Submit Answer". I don't how many weeks I played before I realized you could do this!

Sorry, that should have been to "decrease your time" in the above post!

When writing a quiz, do it on an MS Word document or Outlook Express page first.
That way you can check your spelling as you go, plus you can put aside the draft until you are ready to transfer the quiz questions'n'answers across to the Sploofus "Create A Quiz" if you are interrupted.

The Mac users may have their own system equivalents?

If doing long posts in messaging, ALWAYS copy before launching.
If, as can happen, you've been timed out and need to log back into Sploofus, you could lose the entire post, but can then simply paste it back in.

On WordPuzzles, when you've typed in your answer and are about to submit, get in the habit of typing Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C first (Ctrl-A selects the entire answer you typed in, and Ctrl-C plants it in your copy buffer).

That way, if you did something wrong and lost three moves, Ctrl-V (Paste) instantly puts the text back, exactly as you typed it. Not only does it save time, it also helps you a lot in figuring out whether you had the right answer but entered a typo, or have to reconsider the answer you typed in because a word is not what you think it was.

NOTE: Not sure if this works the same way on Macs, or if Ctrl has to be replaced by the Apple key.

If you were timed out when writing a quiz question, log in again then hit the Back button on your browser to go back to the question - it's usually still there and you can now enter it properly.

Also, if you forget to copy your WP answer and need to get it back, usually if you type the first few characters of the answer in the box the full answer you gave will come up as an 'autofill' option; you can then click on it and, as Kaufman says, check it for typos etc before trying again. Be very careful when doing this, though - the autofill comes up right over the 'Submit' button so it would be very easy to click that instead of selecting the autofill!

One thing that helped me in wordrounds and wordmatches is to have my window in FULLSCREEN mode. It shows almost all of the questions without having to scroll much. Pressing F11 is a quick way of changing between fullscreen and normal mode.

Just a wee tip from me.

If you are a new player and are attempting to write your first quiz or hav emaybe only written a small number.

Make sure to refer to the SQAG if you are not sure of anything as it is a good help.

By nature, this is a competitive game. I was probably one of the first bunch to join. I really only have one tip or piece of advice-in the end it is a game and supposed to be fun. I lost sight of that and quit once. I started again because I missed it so. Almost let my anger get the better of me yet again. If you quit, nice folks here may inquire about you for a spell but the game goes on as if you had never been here-no one's fault-think it is called LIFE!! So be competitive but most of all - ENJOY!!
