Hi! I'm new here (well, I've been lurking for a couple of days and decided to pay to feel ignorant), and have been reading rules, posts, and bombing miserably at some quizzes. I've noticed some threads regarding timing out on TQOTD, and this morning I submitted my answer, but recieved an error message saying I timed out. Is this a big deal? I'm not worried about points and levels and such. Just wondering . . .

Welcome Natwil. Problems with TQOTD have been happening a lot lately. Although this is not a huge problem for you yet, for those who are wagering lots of points on a question it can be VERY annoying. Justin is supposed to be getting a new server up and running any day now and that will hopefully take care of the problems happening with TQOTD. Normally you could send in support ticket, but Justin is aware of this problem and hopefully a fix is coming soon.

hey Natwil...

I havve found that using Mozilla for my browser has resulted in fewer time outs.

If you are on a Mac, try Camino...

I use both and have rarely (crossing fingers) had a problem.

And Alice is right, Get used to looking in the mirror and seeing those dark rings from lack of sleep

Thanks for your responses. I would love to blame this morning's QOTD on a timed-out problem, but it was all me. LOL

And Alice, I already see how my life is going to interfere w/ my Sploofus time. I have to laugh at some of my quiz times -- the kids interrupt and try to "help", the phone rings, people at the door . . . I might have to forgo sleep.

One last thing and this is dumb --I left the room for a moment and one of my kids decided to take a quiz for me(lol). He got 2 out of 10 -- not bad for someone who can't read yet. But I think he rated it (and I'm not sure how.) Should I contact this person in case it was negative?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. There's not much you can do it about now anyway. It will get averaged into the total and hopefully it was a quiz with a lot of takers so it won't make a difference. If you want to be nice, take a couple of other quizzes by that same author and rate high to make up for it.

When my son was about two he somehow erased everything on my computer desktop! Thank goodness I didn't play Sploofus then or I'd have had a heart-attack! What if he had messed with my POINTS?????
