? CHARACTERS INSTEAD OF DOUBLE QUOTES, SINGLE QUOTES, ETC.

If you encounter a ? where it does NOT belong in either a QUIZ DESCRIPTION, or a BBS THREAD, please post a link to it here. I am currently working to resolve the reported problem but need to see the error in action so to speak.

Thank you!

How about Chinese characters in a QOTD?

That is exactly what I am trying to identify and correct. I will send you a make up question.

The TOU has question marks in place of other or special characters now, and it didn't used to before. For example, under Privacy Policy:

Now:

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user?s computer tied to information about the user.

Before (old server):

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user.

There are more. Maybe there's a global fix?

Found this in a word round:
The middle latitudes of the southern hemisphere. So called from the boisterous and prevailing westerly winds, which are especially strong in the South Indian Ocean up to 50? S.

Check out my quiz "Memorable Sitcom Quotes". Every question has the problem.

In my quiz It's All Relative to You the problem shows up in every question.

Thanks for all you hard work on the problems. I know from personal experience how difficult server migrations can be.

Hey kids,

The Trivia Alchemist asked for LINKS to the problem pages, but not one of you has posted a link

The last thing Justin needs is to have to hunt down the problems! Please do the legwork for him and post a LINK to the pages you are referencing.

Thank you for your help and cooperation in clearing up these snafus.

Just a friendly reminder!

Okay, Sploofizz, now I get it. Justin asked only for examples in a QUIZ DESCRIPTION, or a BBS THREAD, and none of the above are either.

Justin, here's one like you asked for, a BBS THREAD:

http://www.sploofus.com/bbs_detail.sp?post=24594&cID=4

Look at my post dated 10/21 9:39 PM EST. On my browser (IE 6.0) the contraction for "I will" shows I?ll instead of I'll.

I found two other examples of my posts that had a question mark substituted for an apostrophe, and they all had one thing in common: I had pre-written the posts in Microsoft Word and then copied and pasted them into the message box.

The reason the quotation marks (") show correctly is that I saw them show as weird accent marks instead of straight quotation marks and corrected them before I clicked on 'Post Message'.

Hope this helps.

Sploofiz, "technology challenged" me (yes, I said that with love) does not know how to post a link. Sad, but true.
