Quite a few of the Sploofus members use Yahoo IM to communicate with each other. Yesterday and today several of us received messages from other members with a link to a Geocities site. In my case, since it came from a known person, I clicked on the link. It took me to a yahoo sign in page which I did, then to an "Internal server error" page. I wrote back to the person and said I was unable to get it to open, but they were offline. A couple hours later two other members wrote to me saying they were unable to open the link. Come to find out, they had received the same message as I had, but the message was from me! and I certainly hadn't sent any messages. My virus scan was running, but it appears to have been a phishing escapade. I have gone into Yahoo and changed my password and would recommend that anyone who has received an unexpected message from a fellow Sploofuser and clicked on a link to do the same. Should you receive such a message close the window and do not click on the link.

I just opened Yahoo IM and had a message from you. I deleted it. Do I still have to change my password?

Thanks for the heads-up

You shouldn't have to if you deleted it. Keep an eye out though for messages from others on your list.

*Nods*.....yeah I had a couple messages from people on my list today as well. I just ignored them. I never ever open any link unless I have just been talking to the person and they have told me exactly what the link is for.
