WORDS TO LIVE BY...

I've noticed many of us - myself included - post maxims, aphorisms and serious/humourous quotations on our stat pages.
Anyone seen or got favourites?

"Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and annoys the pig."

As a teacher (and sometimes a music teacher) this one has always stuck with me!

This may come across as a little odd
but.. my riding instructor for many years.. Jim Graham had two that he preached , especially going cross country.. but actually, while utterly simple.. so true

"Speed Kills" ok, it kills on the cross country course, the roads, in taking test, in doing work.. careless, recklessnes. pure speed.. kills

"forward first"
well he was talking about the horse working off the leg, and the horse can not do anything until moving forward, but it applies to everything in life, you have to go forward, baby steps, steps, giant leaps, but going backwards or sideways is never good, you got to go" forward first"

That's good, Nicole. I'll remember that as I am trying to lose 30 lbs or so! This time, it's a medical necessity if I don't want to be shooting up insulin!

My own personal motto, which I created all by myself (at least, I've never heard it said by anyone else yet):

Some say the glass is half full. Some say it's half empty. I say "this isn't the drink I ordered!"

Jenp - I would say, "Time to order another, before this one is gone!"

It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to have to paint it.
