MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVES AND SPLOOFUS

I just had a quiz returned because being that my quiz is on 3 specific subjects, I had one of each of them as an answer along with 'all of them' and 'none of them'. The editor sent it back saying that I could not use 'all of them' and 'none of them'.

Did I miss this becoming a rule on Sploofus? If so, would someone kindly direct me to this rule? The editor suggested I insert another subject into the quiz but the quiz is on 3 very specific yet related subjects and to insert a 4th in there would cheapen it, IMO. (sorry which ever editor you are, no offense but I am entitled to my opinion).

As a result, I guess I won't be able to enter a quiz into this month's community quiz offering.

You can't have both 'all of them' and 'none of them' as answers because if the correct answer was 'all of them' then logically 'none of them can't be an anser.
Imagine the question was,
Which of these countries start with the letter A?
and your answer options were
Australia
Austria
Azerbijan
All Of These
None Of These.

Then if you selected All of these then you would be wrong as 'none of these' is not a country that starts with A.

I think you are allowed to have either or, for example.

Which of these countries start with the letter A?
Australia
Austria
Azerbijan
Albania
All Of These.

Then the answer would be all of these.

I am pretty sure that you are allowed to have that as a logical answer
Hope that helps

What if the question read like this?

Which of these countries start with the letter A?

Australia
Austria
Azerbijan
All 3 Of These
None Of These 3.

Hmmmmm!!!! lol Rocco

Interesting because I got a question in a showdown that asked which countries bordered Brazil. Two of the answers were "all of them" and "none of them". The correct answer given was "all of them".

Hmmm, now I just found in the SQAG - the latest edition, the following rule:

"iii. "All of the above" is not an acceptable answer as all answers will be randomized when the quiz is displayed.
However, "All of these" or "None of these" are both acceptable."

Mine said "all of these" and "none of these" and I have now updated them as Roccotab suggested but according to Sploofus's own rules - it was not necessary - my quiz WAS correct to begin with.

Irritated - yeah, just a little bit!

I appreciate the help I received from everyone.

Thanks again,

Morrie

Mskillan, sorry to say but it wasn't correct the first time.
The SQAG says you can have 'all of these' OR 'None of these'
NOT 'all of these' AND 'NOne Of these'

Anyway, hope your quiz goes live soon and I will look forward to taking it to see how you got on with it.
So keep up the good work

By the way, I once got a TQOTD that was set up with an all of these or none of these.
