Well, someone has to start the Kommunal Kristmas Kard, and we'll get to Christmas Day before most of you, so here goes ..............

All peace to you and yours.

Happy Christmas to you!
Happy Christmas to you!
Happy Christmas Dear Sploofarians.....
Happy Christmas to-o-o-o-o you!

Hope your Christmas and New Year is all you could wish it to be!
Ozzarians will probably be having a barbie (BBQ) and a few coldies (that's "beer" to you)...some prawns, melon and way too much salad.

We in America's mid-west might join you for a Christmas BBQ if our current heat wave lingers. Last week we had 8 inches of snow and freezing temps; today out in short sleeves.

To all Sploofusers everywhere, may whichever holiday you like to celebrate around this time of year be joyous!

Merry Christmas to all. It is with heavy heart that we sing 'Auld Lang Syne' so why not just say, lets grow old together and never forget our old acquaintances.

I am amazed that Surreyman could type and swim at the same time. Must be the back pack with Scotch. Jim

I didn't realise this was going to become an international menu card, so here goes:

I don't know if our English Christmas is typical or not, but it needs a lot
of training beforehand!

As many of family as possible from all over gathered mid-morning - maybe
around a dozen for lunch.
Fairly careful drinking beforehand. (we'll have been up until maybe 4 a.m. following the Midnight service and consequent mince pies and malts with friends/neighbours!).

Crackers first, so we can wear the silly hats, but means eating through the
popper streamers hanging from the Christmas chains!

Some deliberately very good red wines.
Straight in to the main course - turkey and ALL the trimmings. bacon-wrapped
sausages, ham/orange, chopped steak pieces, sprouts, parsnips,
roast/sautee/boiled potatoes, petits pois, bubble & squeak, mushrooms, lava bread (fried seaweed, to keep our Welsh relatives happy) several sauce choices - probably a lot of other stuff I've forgotten. All quite obscene, basically.

Christmas pud soaked in vodka and set alight (the brandy's already in the
pud), with various alcoholic stiff creams.

Massive cheese board. A lot of port.

By then it's around 5 p.m. and we've missed the Queen's Address again!

Twas some time before Christmas in the old Salty Dog,
Sploofusers were festive as a fine Yuletide Log.
Support tickets were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Justin soon would be there.

Sploof spoke not a word but went straight to his work,
And answered them all (even those from jerks).
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, through the ether he rose.

He sprang from his site, to give his team a whistle
(Can I just apologise now for this badly scanning epistle)
For I should like to exclaim, ere you drive off this site,

Peace & Love to all,

Very clever, Martin. Alan, people are going to develop a heart attack just reading your menu. You Brits must be made of pretty stern stuff to tolerate that even once a year.

Wishing everyone jolly holidays. Happy we can celebrate their many special meanings together. While reading the on-line magazine 'Slate', I found a wonderful old poem by Ogden Nash called "The Boy Who Laughed At Santa Claus". Give it a read if you get a minute, it's wonderful. I loved it so much that I'm enclosing copies of it in my Christmas cards. Happy New Year, Frannie

I hope everyone has someone to celebrate with this year...but I'm sure that lots of us will find a moment to check in here and do a WP, and a WR or two during the day so you know you can find some friends here if anyone is feeling lonely!

Also, if you are a big Christmassy sort of person, be sure to check out my request in Ask the Audience:

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas!
