Has anyone noticed that when someone launches three quizzes at once on the same topic, as in...

Beatles Songs Part 1
Beatles Songs Part 2
Beatles Songs Part 3

...the one in the middle is always taken the least number of times?

Strange but true. Have been thinking for a possible explanation and yet can't think of one.

I absolutely have noticed the same thing. I even believe I have the explanation for it, and it is simple. People take the one either on the top or the bottom. If they don't enjoy it, they don't go any further. So, therefore, fewer takers for the middle. Easy as that.

Personally I think folks are shooting themselves in the foot when they have more than one quiz of a type up there together, but that's their business. I never write the second in a series till I see how the first one did. I figure it's not worth it unless a quiz gets about 100 takers; then I might - and I stress might - write a second. It generally takes me hours to write a quiz, so I am not going to go for another unless I see that folks really liked the first.

Gee, Alice, if I relied on a formula like that, I'd almost never write a sequel, and soon run out of ideas.

Come to think of it ..

My formula is more like 20 takers and two nice notes

Or sometimes, I just really like a topic and want to write more quizzes on the subject! But I do most often wait quite a while between.

However...the person with the most three of a kind at a time [and maybe #'s 24, 25, 26] quizzes in every category is ranked #1 in the Quiz Author list. How can you argue with trios of questions getting over 1.7 million takers just in the first 2/3ds of the month?

I thought it might be the "middle child effect"

Maurlin - I believe the ranking in the Quiz Author List is merely the number of quizzes you have written. I don't think it has anything to do with how many people have taken those quizzes.

THe quiz authoring list points is for how many people take your quizzes. well at least the points awarded because of the difficulty level times average rating and the number of times taken.

I have also noticed about the middle of three being taken less.
