I met President Eisenhower once, yes, I'm that old! I unexpectedly met President Ford at St. Margaret's Church in Palm Desert, CA a few years ago. We had gathered for a christening - there were 5 or 6 babies to be christened that day. I saw young men walking around with hearing aids and I thought it strange that men so young should be so hard of hearing...Secret Service!

After the service, President Ford held each baby as proud parents snapped the treasured photo. He and Mrs. Ford stopped to talk to everyone gathered there, he was in no hurry to leave, and all who wished to have their picture taken with him were obliged with a big friendly grin, including me! I was impressed with his kindly manner. Historians recognize that he came to a presidency in tatters and helped to heal, not only the office, but the American people. He was, perhaps, the only man at that time who could have done the job.

Well said, Geo. From all accounts he was an exceptional person. The nation was fortunate to have him in its hour of need.

How lovely that you have such special memories; I'm sure the photos will be family treasures for generations. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, thanks for sharing Geo. Mr. Ford seemed to be a very honorable and dedicated man. Very down to earth. May he rest in Peace. God Bless.
