SHAKESPEAREAN STYLE INSULTS

This puzzle was the absolute best. I smiled all the way through the puzzle. Congrats to Sploofizz. Sally

And to me, it was right up there with the Welsh towns. I have a few choice comments of my own.

It took me a bit to realize that they were made-up and not actually Shakespeare. That made it pretty difficult to me, as the words could be ANY combination of words.

My score looked like an insult when I finished. LOL!

I thought I didn't enjoy the puzzle that much, until I actually started throwing some of those terms around. Calling someone a cremasterful psittacophagist does have its charms.

Umm - I hope those aren't actually in the puzzles since it still has 6 hours to go ...?!

Relax, Beryl. One of those words is too long for a WP, and I'll be very surprised if the other one is in it.

How about "ick".. didn't like it at all.. totally nonsensical...i had no hope of guessing which words they could be.. do some of them even exist?

I thought they were funny. I didn't realize they would remind people of the Welsh puzzle! I figured it was worth a try, but I promise I won't do a puzzle like this again.

Obviously a few players found the website I used, which randomly generates insults using a formula of Shakespearean adjectives and nouns:

www.webweaving.org

I can at least assure you that they are all real words.

I hope some of you look up the website and find the humor. Feel free to call me any of these names, if it will make you feel better.

I loved this puzzle and I found a website afterward, in fact a bunch of websites, using words from Shakespeare to generate these insults. Since they all followed the same form, it was fairly easy to fill in the letters--but then I don't get high scores on WPs so I don't mind making lots of mistakes.

Can we have Shakespearean-style insults with one letter removed?

Or a Shakespearean insult pyramid or word scramble? That would be much more interesting!

Sploofizz, don't be put of by the comments! There were only a few negative comments (one of which was mine) from the large number of people who did it. We all like different kinds of humour: I happened not to find this one particularly funny but others did! I don't see any reason not to do another, but in any case, keep experimenting! And thanks to all the setters: I enormously enjoy the WPs!

Sploofizz ... This was a tough puzzle for me and I didn't score particularly well, but I had a lot of fun once I puzzled out the letters. It might be really fun to have a puzzle on actual insults from Shakespeare's works though! LOL!
