How about a quiz on the wives of Elvises (or Elvi, or Elvin or whatever the plural of Elvis is). Priscilla has led an interesting life and Diana Krall is superb.

I'd do just as well on that as on a quiz about people who paint Elvises on velvet.

At least Elvis costello wrote his own songs. Elvis Presley, you could argue, was nothing better than a better than average karaoke singer.

In my dictionary next to the enrty cheesey it show a picture of an Elvis movie poster. Viva Las Vegas is one of the best comedies ever. Vickie you are still one of my heroes!!!

Thank you Felix...admit it..you liked Viva Las Veags because of Ann Margaret right? Everyone has their own opinion but Elvis Costello could not sing one tenth as well as Elvis Presley! so what, he wrote his own songs...Elvis had the voice and could sing anything..that's just my opinion baggiob.

From a mere Brit who was also lucky enough to be around at the time, Elvis was undoubtedly the supreme rock singer and, I think, amongst the Top Whatever of all time amongst the Sinatras, Callas's, Piafs etc.

Ms. Vickie, I was in Tupelo, Mississippi last year. The fact that Elvis even learned to sing based on his humble beginings is amazing in itself. His life could be an inspiration to many. I know that I would have never considered sitting on a toilet and shooting at televisions without his trailblazing research in this area.

Graceland, Elvis's home in Memphis, as far as visitation goes, is second to the White House and had 40,000 visitors on the 25th Anniversary of his death, despite a heavy rain. Elvis is loved and respected by many people including myself. These visitors are not only from the United States, but from other countries. I'll be looking forward to the upcoming wordpuzzle.

Baggiob:

Elvis Presley - "was nothing better than a better than average karaoke singer"????? I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, likes and dislikes but, really??? His voice was the sweetest, sexiest most divine voices I have ever (and probably will ever) heard. His style, looks and personality were attractive to both male and female fans. He was a legend, a pioneer and a tragic soul all in one. Circumstance and ignorance ultimately led to his untimely death.

"His voice had a unique tonality and an extraordinary unusual center of gravity, leading to his ability to tackle a range of songs and melodies which would be nearly impossible for most other popular singers to achieve." - wikipedia.org - take a look

Grrrr.. fierce Elvis fan here - can you tell?

Lisap, I did mean it as a joke. I actually have over 500 Elvis songs from through out his career.

Personally I prefer his very early stuff and his later stuff.

No worries Baggiob, although Elvis was my first love and I have been a life long fan (I was 8 when he died) my response was just stating my loyalty - no real offence taken - I sometimes play up my "fan"atical status - I am the youngest of 7 kids - none of my siblings (who would have been old enough while he was alive to really enjoy him, see him live, etc) are a fan so it's kind of a long standing family joke. They purposely try to stoke my Elvis ire.
