Is is considered good form to send messages asking people to take your quiz? This strikes me as being right up there with junk email and political phonecalls.

I wouldn't be offended if I received a PM from someone whose quizzes I had taken and liked in the past; imagining I had sent them positive notes, maybe with requests for more like it.

If they wrote more like it they could send me a PM telling me a new one was live that I might enjoy.

But getting notes from "strangers", advertising random quizzes, would feel like spam.

It's only January and have I sided with my friend Bag, again on this one. Go figure. Say no to SPAM (both kinds).

I did as well.. this morning before the shut down.

Is sploofspam acceptable?.. this is the first one I've received on this site but I don't think I'd like to see that trend start - a mailbox full of "please take my quiz" would be very annoying.

I usual send a message after I have taken a quiz by someone who has written a quiz like mine. I don't think that is self-promotion. But I do see where you all are coming from tho.

I seem to remember that some time last year Sploofus enabled a facility to allow just this. We were flooded with spam and - I thought - the facility was turned off.

Maybe this resurgence (which I've also received) is home-grown?

I don't like it.

I also got the spam self promotion message. If I had been about to take that quiz, I wouldn't have, just because of that message. There is a difference between sending a message to a friend about a quiz you are proud of, or a quiz you know they are going to like, and sending a broadcast message to the world about a quiz. I think wide scale self-promotion is ugly.

I'm still getting messages like this:

I also received this message today. Maybe it is not considered bad manners in Malta. I just deleted it and hope this won't be a trend.

I blocked her also. While I have nothing against brunosexy,...let's face one simple fact. As a 44 year old male I have never, nor do I intend to in the near future, read Danielle Steele. Hence, my taking that quiz would simply be a one-sided affair.

It has been a trend of late, Pocahontas... which made it annoying.
