WHAT IF......(WORDPUZZLES)

What if we didn't know what the upcoming puzzles were going to be. Not like it would stop the cheaters from searching the web while doing the puzzles, but at least it would slow them down.
I figure that as soon as I hit the button to start the WordPuzzle, then I will know what the puzzle pertains to.
Anyone else have any other ideas?
Just a thought from a newbie,

I never considered searching the web to be cheating, since it is available on an equal basis to everyone who chooses to use it. Cheating to me is sharing answers, two or more accounts, watching one person do it and then taking your turn.

I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I consider using any resources outside of your own skull as cheating. The key distinction on these puzzles being the fact that they are part of a competition among other players, kind of like Scrabble or Wheel of Fortune. You can't use external resources there. Not at all like your newspaper's crossword puzzle, completing it being a solo project. If you want to use research aids then, it doesn't effect anybody else. Here on sploofus, it does.

Besides, what's the purpose of these puzzles? To test your word knowledge or your research skills?

As for being able to stop the "cheating" (using outside research aids), I don't think keeping the topic of the puzzle secret would really help much. It only takes a few seconds to do a web search or use a crossword dictionary site. The slow-down effect would be minimal. I just think it's an inherent weakness in this type of puzzle that we all have to live with.

And on top of that, word puzzles, when you are really going for a good score can prove to be time consuming and I usually like to know whether or not the puzzle will be worth my time. If it's a word puzzle on barbie's shoe selection, I'll pass and wait for a biology one.
