SHOULD I TOSS IN MY HAT?

Posted: Today @ 01:37 AM Msg. 1 of 1
I ran last year for Abilene City Council against the corporate lawyer Sam Chase. I was underfunded and not really prepared for the election, since it was my first shot at public office. Before I decide to run again, I need issues to run on, campaign help, and donations. If you have any of the above, please feel free to share. If you have fresh ideas to help Abilene to progress let me know. I am an Idealist and have a desire to see Abilene out of the rut we have been in far too long.

1 Corinthians 1:26-29 (NIV)
26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him.

I guess I am the kinda guy who belives in puting my money where my mouth is... What do you people, my friends, and especially my critics think? God help the world for us INFP idealists...

If you feel a call to public service, don't you already know what your issues are? Define the "rut" as you see it and offer your ideas for getting out of it. If they're truly important issues and you have some good ideas, you'll be better able to attract support.

It's a free country...run for whatever you like. How can we possibly know what the issues are in Abilene? As a Californian, I wouldn't have a clue. I'm hard pressed to know where Abilene is.

Know the electorate. Who votes. Who doesn't. Stand in front of grocery stores and say your name at least 3 times when you say hello and shake a hand. Then say your name again. And when you say good-bye, say who says good-bye. Oh, did I say, say your name?

The world needs more INFP leaders.

I will pray with you for guidance, acceptance, and strength.

Be honest and true to your heartfelt convictions. One of the hard things for INFP types (I am one) is to not see compromise as failure, but as progress. You can be flexible and cooperative without giving up your ethics or goals.

I wish you well.

I have no idea what an INFP leader is, but thanks for clarifying Abilene!
