Now that the Math Quizzes have been eliminated, shouldn't the Math Questions also be eliminated from the Daily Question rotation?

You know, Steve, the same thought occurred to me too when they first announced that they were going to pull the math quizzes; but then I figured that I'm so poor at math that I can use the practice and I'd never be so foolhardy as to wager on a numbers question, so what's the harm? They really do make me think.

Have to agree with that comment.....seems rather silly to have Daily Question content that has been deemed "not trivia" for the quiz section

I don't know if all math has been deemed non trivial, I think it is just that the quizzes tended to run to the 1+1=2 variety, and it was easier to outlaw them all.

PS I hate math

I think the reason the math trivia was pulled was because too many people were putting stupid quizzes on that either were too simple or not correct. I took several math quizzes and got low scores when it turns out that the author just didnt know their own math. There are too many quizzes that we all make to be policed by sploofus. They, however, are the ones that make the daily question so I like that they left it. That way we still get our math questions, but they are being moderated by sploofus for content.

Did that make any sense? I tend to be a rambler.

It made perfect sense to me, but then again, I'm a rambler too.. :D

think the intent in removing them centered on math not actually being trivia. If a question was something like "who was the father of geometry?" or what theorum is used to deal with right triangles?" that would be trivia. But story problems and questions like what is 1/2 of 2/3 of 3/4 of 1/8 of 160 are not trivia, and while i can do it, 30 seconds is generally too tight of a frame.

As an Algebra teacher, I really hated to see all of the math trivia removed. However, at the same time, I was taking the quizzes I found so many incorrect answers. I reported many of them due to incorrect answers. I just wish when a quiz is reported that it asked for the reason. I had written several math quizzes and had had two of them removed but have no idea why except that they were reported. Why were they reported? It must have been some of those people who didn't know their math rules so scored poorly and complained.

However, many of those who had incorrect answers I did not report as I saw they knew what they were doing and had made careless errors. To those I sent a message. Many of them responded and thanked me.

Also, if a person really still wants to do those math quizzes that were already posted, they can go to the author's information page and click the link for quizzes written and still take them!

my brother, who is a math whiz, said the same thing about errors in math quizzes. Me, I plod by at them, but as daily questions, found they often took more time to get the right answer, which I almost always could, than the 30 seconds allowed.

Tuzillia, You make a good point, but number problems is the only category I know I can get right. I would be very sad if they were gone. Plus rember if you have a problem with number problems you can go to category exemptions and check number problems and then you will not get anymore!!
