Hope all you sploofusers remembered to adjust your clocks last night if you live in an area that observes daylight savings time. Especially those folks in parts of Indiana that joined the Eastern Time Zone and lost two hours of sleep last night.

The so-called energy savings is a crock of b.s. and who needs an extra hour of evening daylight in March??? I hope this "experiment" is cancelled when they find out it doesn't save anything. Which reminds me of Al Gore and his documentary about our abuse of energy when we found out the electric bill at his Tennessee [house] was more than ten times the state average. Onward and upward! (or something).

Yet another good reason to live in Arizona! We do not fall for that "spring forward fall back" crock.

However, I may have to turn my AC on this afternoon since it will be in the high 80's!

Do other countries do the Daylight Savings thing? I really don't understand why it would make any difference to anyone.

Suzer, many nonequatorial countries do it. The basic idea behind DST is that at the summer solstice, who needs it to be light at 4:30 AM, better to have daylight when people are awake and doing things, like at 9:00 PM.

Of course in Arizona, where it's a million degrees out, you probably want to be up and around in the black of night, and hibernating during the day, so you really ought to set your clocks BACK 12 hours during the summer, and be in sync with Pakistan.

Don't forget to change the batteries in your SMOKE ALARMS!
This is recommended when you change the clocks.

Probably the most important difference daylight saving time makes here on Sploofus is that the time used for schedules is current U.S. Eastern time (not EST, as it implies for example in 'Now Playing').

Thanks to the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005, EST changed to EDT this morning, earlier than previous years, and our friends in the U.K. may have been caught unawares, thinking they had an hour more to do the WP than they really had. Markied noted that in another thread.

Wasn't just your UK friends that fumbled the time change and lost a WP.
