QUIZ DIFFICULTY OF 10

I managed to do it, write a quiz that has a difficulty rating of 10.

Wondering how many others have a rating of 9 or 10

I would be curious to know how many takers you get with that difficulty rating-Personally I would hate it if one of mine rated that-to each his own-Linda

Well, there's another one on the newest quizzes list at the moment, so it can't be that rare for a new quiz.

I doubt if there are many older ones like that around though - it can happen at the start of a quiz's life, but with 27,000+ sploofusers online there are bound to be one or two experts on just about every subject under the sun - and sooner or later one of them will find the quiz and ace it, dropping your difficulty rating by one or two points.

Just a matter of time, as they say - so enjoy it while you can!!

Even random guessing should eventually drop a quiz to eight stars. Unless some answers look obvious, but are wrong.

I suppose the random guessing could help.

Currently there have been 58 takers and its still on a rating of 10.

I was very suprised when I signed in this evening to see the number of messages I had from people asking what the quiz was called so they could take it.

I'm afraid this might be part of the glitch that keeps telling people they got a 0% a quiz. If everyone gets a 0, then the difficulty would be 10 and never change.

A while ago i asked if anyone had ever scored 500 on a quiz... I suppose you could get 600 theoretically. I've managed 460 (got the last question wrong!!) but I must chase up this quiz mentioned here (and get zero...)

Suzer22 a good point you raise there, however if that was a case all the quizzes difficulty rating would go up, mine haven't. But an interesting thought. Having said that it is devilishly hard this quiz. It is all about what was invented first but instead of there being years between the invention of the stuff named, sometimes it is a matter of weeks or months.

enjoyable quiz. My 30% was an equal top score --so my guesswork must have been good...it was still 10 stars when i left it.
Is there any way to check out other 9/10* quizzes? i always enjoy the challenge, and try not to do 1* if i can.

At times the snobbery and elitism here makes me want to vomit. Rather agree with Ghost-this used to be a fun place. It is a fact that some are smarter than others-also some faster with the mouse. I play all quizzes even at times go out of the area I believe I know something about. Certainly-I aim this post at no one individual but think it ludicrous to be proud of a quiz so difficult it is out of the reach of most-sorry about that-Linda

I am going to take an exception to that. I am extremely proud of every single quiz I have ever authored. I am as proud of the ones that have a difficulty rating of 1 as I do with any that have a rating of 5 or 10.

I am as proud of the quizzes that I have authored that have been taken less than 10 times as I am with the ones that have been taken over 500 times.

I am as proud of each and every single one as any other one. That is not elitist. If it was elitist then why would I write quizzes that other people have suggested. If that is being selfish then you can find me guilty.

As for saying this place used to be fun, well I would say this place is fun and I am sure that there are plenty of people that would agree with that (though most do not feel the need to say so). Some like it for different reasons and that is why it is so good.

I loved that quiz! I got only 10% right, but I was so sure I was right on most of the other questions. LOL Shows you what I know! Not much. But it was lots of fun.

Thanks, Alice

As I have said before-no offense intended-I write my quizzes and truly hope folks score well-guess when it becomes too unfun in all area will be gone. I am prouder of some than others as I believe that is the human nature quality within me-Linda

I think trying to compose a quiz with a difficulty rating is hard to do, laws of average says guessing would give you at least 20%. To be honest the quiz in question has been quite popular ( I won't lie and say it is my most popular but not least by a long shot). I suppose some people would argue that a higher difficulty rating would put them off but some would say they like the challenge.

Heidi, I have taken many of your quizzes (and the ones under your old name) and I like your quizzes. To be honest there are not many quizzes that I have taken that I have not enjoyed. Usually if there is really bad spelling (some of the older pre-editor days ones then that puts me off) but generally everything is good.

Oh and I don't think you are being controversial of confrontational at all, just speaking your mind.(I tend to do that sometimes too)

Personally I like to have aims,
some of my aims when I first got hooked on sploofus were,
to reach the top 100 all time scorers within a year
take 10,000 quizzes within a year
compose 1,000 quizzes within a year
Have one quiz with a difficulty rating of 10
and have one quiz that has a user rating of 9

I have acheived all of those (pats myself on the back) but really that is not what this site is about, it is about so much more. It is about the people, from the top to the bottom.

I also enjoy every single message every player sends me when they take my quizzes and words like that are always encouraging. I find it amazing that so many people take quizzes that they were always not going to do well on (for example Americans taking a quiz about Scottish Football of 100 years ago). But the thing is, we are all different in this world and there are no right or wrong reasons, just different ways of looking at it.

SPLOOFUS ROCKS

Alastair, I respect the fact that you have goals and "go for them"!! As I said, my message was not aimed directly at you-must have seemed that way. You were just in the "line of fire" so to speak of turns in Sploofus of late that puts the game "above" us average-perhaps even intelligent folks. If you want to write it off-that would be fair as I AM getting UP THERE!! Linda

Linda, honestly it's cool, I know you weren't directing it straight at me and anyway I don't get easily insulted.

I always understood that Sploofus intended to supply quizzes of all types for all preferences!

If you like taking easy quizzes on all your favourite TV programme - there's plenty for you. If you like something that makes you think and from which you may learn something - there's quizzes here for you, too.

There's even a specific category for very hard quizzes, called 'Trivia Experts Only' - of course, since the people who take those are the people who *like* hard quizzes and are good at them, they don't necessarily have a particularly high rating because these trivia experts tend know more of the answers than the rest of us would!

Anyway, Sploofus is for everyone and every quiz, hard or easy, quick or thought-provoking - and with the promised Ker-blunk, even the FITB ones are apparently going to stage a comeback!

So just enjoy our favourite island in whichever way suits you best!

Beginning to sound like others on this site. I take exception that quizzes on TV, movies, vocabulary, and the like cannot challenge one's mind. You are correct in that we all have varied interests, Justin recently had a post about concern about disappearance of bees. I do not pretend to understand anything about science, technology, or mathematics -category is gone- or many of the "osophies" but some folks do I could not even research and write a quiz on so very many topics without appearing a fool. If that makes me unsophisticated-then sorry-I am. I have repeatedly urged for "Top" figures in each category rather than the top 25 which includes all. (music, movies and TV will remain predominant here) Guess I just believe there are more folks out there like me who play on a regular basis and as long as the system remains status quo so will the quizzes offered-dumb as you perceive me-I can figure this out-Linda
