I guess we owe our leader in today's WP congratulations for doing it in 7 moves. Let's see, we get a one move deduction just for submitting each one. That means this person did five puzzles using just two letters. WOW! SUPER! Now I will go drink a beer or two in [her] honor, or maybe even three!

Wow. A brand new member, too.

Good to know what the number to beat is before I've taken the quiz!

Sorry, there is NO WAY that that puzzle could have been answered in 7 moves total. It is cheating, plain, simple, and obvious. So why is it tolerated?

This is called deja vu. Every now and then a newbie comes along and solves the puzzle, a difficult one I might add, in 5 to 7 moves. Impossible one might say but there it is in black and white for all to see. Is this person cheating? Will this person do it again? It boggles the mind to think what lengths someone would go to for a handful of points.

It's not about points. It's to show us they're clever.

ah,this is totally insulting to the real players, not that i do much, lol but there are some excpetionally smart people here and i dont see them running the gamut in 5-7 moves

There was that cat quote puzzle awhile ago that 8 or so people did it in 5 moves. Even if you search & get a list of quotes that's mighty fine guessing. Maybe I'm just jealous or they're phychic.

Isn't it sad that folks feel a need to do that? I have great faith in Justin, and wish this leader a long happy future AWAY from Sploofus, cause I don't think she will be here much longer. I think we have to allow Justin time to wake up and hit the delete key.

What did she say, Mitchy? I wrote and asked her why she wasted two moves but she hasn't said.

Yes she's the response:

I keep getting messages about my score. It was some glitch the computer made and it only added up my wrong guesses rather than my right ones. So to answers everyones questions: NO, I'm a genuis; and NO, I'm not trying to cheat everyone. I really am sorry everyone is so upset and I would respond to them on the message boards if I was able.

Thanks for the message.

Sorry Katie, we understand now. Pardon us for being a suspicious lot, we're very competitive around here and we've been burned before.

Welcome aboard!

I received the same response from her and it makes me ashamed that I jumped to the most negative interpretation of events.

Please accept my public apologies to all. I occasionally fall victim to my 'Ready, Fire, Aim' syndrome.

She seems really nice yall, and I think she is being honest about it. Here is the response I got from her......

Unfortunately I'm no genius! I just got lucky with some glitch in the computer. Somehow it only added one up one move per round and two when I guessed a letter wrong. Anyway, thanks for the welcome. I actually used to be very active on here a few years ago but got busy and my account was deactivated from lack of use. I've been busy enjoying all the new features that they've added since I was last here.
Anyway I gave her A big welcome to sploofus....

Hi everyone:

Through a generous gift from another member, I am now a gold member and able to respond. Yes, the computer messed up and counted one move per round plus two for incorrect letter guessing. You were right to assume that NO ONE could have finished that puzzle in 7 guesses as it was definitely a pretty hard puzzle! I am sorry it happened though. I was pretty active on here a few years ago and it use to drive me crazy when I would see people with such low scores, so I definitely understand being upset! I am glad to be back on sploofus and am enjoying all the new features they have added since I was last here. And I'm sure I will definitely enjoy the gold member perks as well!

I also noticed the score, but I was less suspicious because of the weird things my computer does on WPO from time to time.
One day in ten I'll get into a WP put in an E, then find after the next letter that the E has reversed itself out, and one go is taken off my guess total. If the e s come back (they do sometimes) the total is readjusted.
I'm assuming this is a computer specific problem but maybe other people also have thir quirks?

I guess we need to be more careful. The acid test is when someone constantly scores fewer than half of the second best score (if you can constantly score half of smoke20's scores there's a wire crossed somewhere!!)

Welcome back, Kate!

Well, I sure enjoyed the beer and I apologize but still believe my basis for comment was justified. Onward & upward.

another addition to the list of 'easter egg' glitches sometimes happening on this site, like the one where splooputor will give you a negative time on your WR/WM
