I'm not exactly new but I played for a while and then stopped and then came back. But I didn't play the word rounds the first time and I have a question.

Does your connection affect how quickly you can finish those questions? I know I'm not the fastest but I don't see how some of those people get it done in such a short time.

Yes, connection type and computer speed both affect the times.

Justin is working on a system that will equalize these factors and only measure the time it takes to respond.

Yes it does. I had dial-up went to DSL and it made a big difference. Also depends on your computer speed as well.

The time also varies due to traffic on Sploofus and the internet in general. The time of day and even the time within the hour can make a very noticeable difference.

You will get faster yourself the more you keep playing and picking up on connections. When I first started playing (I still play on dial-up) I was feeling fast if I was in the 30's and now I can get in the 20's and have occassionally made it into the teens (very rarely for me). I have seen some of the fast people play in person and they really are that fast. Play for a month and you will see your times improve a lot from where you started. Sherry

Your computer has an affect on your times as well. A large screen than displays all of the words and definitions without scrolling is a definite adavantage. Playing with a touchpad on a laptop is almost impossible.

Hi, I have been playing for four months and I still cant get closer than maybe in the sixties. I dont read very fast which isnt the best. I will keep trying though as I enjoy the challenge.
