WebTV is a cost effective device geared towards very VERY basic web surfing. It is not meant to be used as a device which accesses complex web applications and/or games that use advanced Javascript, cookies, AJAX, DHTML, CSS, etc.

As Sploofus (and every other web site on the net) continues to adapt to emerging web browser technologies, the WebTV will UNFORTUNATELY be left further and further behind.

I wish there were some way around it, but apparently the folks at WebTV just do not care about their customers being able to enjoy continued access to web sites that make use of emerging technologies such as AJAX and CSS - technologies which make the Internet a much MUCH better place.

And, as the Internet continues to evolve, web sites must adapt accordingly to stay in tune with current web browser technologies. The WebTV (or MSN-TV) was designed as an introductory unit for the most basic web browsing, and is not able to support many of the features available in dedicated web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. General web surfing can certainly be accomplished using the WebTV system, however, it does not provide a good interface to feature-rich web applications which use extensive Javascript and DHTML technologies. Sploofus will continue to integrate the latest web technologies as they become available in order to maintain its leading edge position as the best trivia web site on the Internet. Over time, the WebTV system has become antiquated - and will not work with newer web sites that offer interactive games and applications.

Approximately 95% of Internet users access the web with a dedicated PC or Macintosh running a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari. If you are a WebTV user, I encourage you to consider upgrading to such a system so that you will be able to enjoy continued access to the millions of web sites which continue to move forward and provide more engaging and enjoyable services.

Thank you,
Sploofus Support

This post may be inappropriate as i am sure what you said is disappointing to WEB TV users MY dad before his death found it effective in communicating with kids, grands, and great-grands. Why this post may not seem proper, Justin, Is that every time you talk-am amazed by the technology that I will NEVER live long enough to begin to comprehend-my sons might give you a run-but you and I are too many generations apart to ever bridge. I am just glad you have the knowledge-thanks-Linda

I have had webtv for almost 3 years and I can pay my bills and surf the web,and play sploofus.

The reason I don't upgrade is my house full of cats would wreck the computer.

With the exception of losing countless showdowns to someone with a faster connection speed even when I have the correct answer, webtv is just perfect for me.

Kathryn, if you can afford to spend $500 or less you can have a desktop computer that will handle anything on the web with ease (with broadband access, but Sploofus with no problem on dial-up). I assume your comment about the cats comes from concerns about cat hair and the computer. As long as you look for a desktop unit without an intake fan, which most cheaper computers will not include (only an exhaust fan), you should be OK. A computer with only an exhaust fan kept off the floor by a foot or so should only need to be cleaned with canned compressed air once or twice a year to keep it clean even with several pets. You can easily learn to do this yourself with a little research into how to remove the side panel and which components to clean with the compressed air.

It is that and cats like to chew cords. I bought some spray when we had a cat. It worked great at preventing chewing.

Thank you for your feedback. The first problem is that all of my cats are psychotic and totally spoiled. If we had a computer, especially an expensive one, they would knock it off of the table because they like to run sprints in our apartment. The second problem is that I am technology challenged and webtv is all I can handle.

I also am addicted to msntv2 player but the main reason i have it is because of a disabled daughter who can only with her ability handle the basic concept of webtv, so we will continue to use it for her sake. BUT I REALLY ENJOY SPLOOFUS and will continue to play as long as possible on the web. Thank you for allowing me the chance to play along i also hve upgraded to gold in only 6 weeks of starting to play. everyone seems to so nice on this site. thanks again. winddancer41
