SPLOOFUS V2.0 BETA

In case it was not made clear, you must be a Gold or Platinum member to qualify for the beta this week. Free members will NOT see the registration button.

Not only do the paying members deserve a sneak peek before anyone else, but their input is highly regarded and this setup will keep the idiots that want to abuse the system away.

Have fun!

Thanks,
Justin

Hey Ya'll...

I signed up (course, duh) But Jeannarie is down here in Florida, and has LIMITED ACCESS to a computer. I know she'd be stoked to give feedback and if she misses this she'll be really disappointed.

So I hope there's a way for her to get with this.

In my experience as a DOS programmer (YES, I am a toss off from they bygone era of early PC computing. The Antiques Roadshop is waiting to appraise me) the numbers after the name of a program are a type of code.
1.0, 2.0, 3.0 mean versions in that 2.0 would be virtually an entirely new version/program over 1.0.
1.1, 1.2, 1.9 usually means an upgrade of an existing program...new features, major fixes, etc.
1.11, 1.12, 1.16 usually means fixes of glitches, bugs, problems, sometimes minor upgrades

You can even go further for very minor changes with a 1.111, 1.112, 1.118

"Beta" refers to a trial of something. I have a friend who is a Beta Tester for new board games. Sometimes he gets games with instructions only in German! So I am guessing that paying members are getting to test out some new stuff before it goes live to the whole site.

The number are like dates, in a way. It is like revisions to something.

1.0 is the original release of a program.
1.1 would be an upgrade to the original program, obviously occurring at a later date.
1.2 would be an upgrade occurring after the original release and after to 1.1 upgrade.
1.21 usually means they fixed a bug in the 1.2 upgrade.
1.22 means they found another bug and fixed it.
1.3 would mean the upgraded again. It would include all the fixes made earlier.
2.0 mean a whole new release of the program. In other words the changes were so big ans sweeping that it is basically an entirely new program. A lot of times they change the name of the program instead of just renumbering when doing this, like when Windows went from Windows95 to Windows98 or to WindowsXP.

And beta, like suzer22 said, is a test version that is used to check for unforeseen problems before the official release.

None of us has a clue what we're waiting for. We're like little kids who've been promised a surprise soon. The wait seems interminable (a whole hour? a whole DAY?), and we don't know if we're getting a pony or a sticker. But either way we're jumping up and down with excitement, because it makes life fun.

I keep checking my email...keep checking the site and this thread....nothing. I was all hyped up. After drinking about a gallon of Vault, 2 Mocha Joes and 2 Turbo Joes Sunday at work....I came home and found that I hadn't been sent the link. I was up until 4am online last night. Wired from all the caffeine and nothing other than stories that I spend way too much time reading anyway to keep me entertained. I was going to plow my way through the night and check out everything 2.0 had to offer seeing how I didn't have to work today. I hope the link goes out soon. I know sometimes things happen and don't go as planned but I really hope that the glitches get worked out soon before my hyped up state fades into the sunset. LOL
