Wow, did I have fun with that. I grew up in the world of preppydom (although I must say I never quite fit in) But I should have realized that all those angst ridden years would be an asset on a WP one day.

I must be wildly out of touch with the world of preppydom, because that was one of the hardest WordPuzzles I've seen in quite a while! Informative, I guess, but extremely difficult.

That certainly was never my world.

LOL yeah this redneck knows NOTHING...NOTHING about preppydom. Now on a redneck puzzle I might stand a chance but this one, I was just along for the ride and hoping I made it out of it with a few points left.

I'm all for the redneck version. Preppy was never in my world of axle grease and cheap beer. My wardrobe consisted of Levi's and t-shirts.

I was on the fringes of preppydom so quite enjoyed the puzzle -- except for the two puzzles of names that ate up way more than 50 percent of my score. Names are always tough, but these seemed especially chosen to trip up WPers. The bio section, with 50+ letters and no T, but J, V, W, and Q, used Vera Wang as an example instead of Ralph Lauren (maybe she was 25 years ago, but she certainly doesn't spring to mind today). And the nicknames section required you to choose too many letters overall just to separate nearly identical entries such as "Muffy" and "Buffy" and "Skip" and "Chip." [/whine]

And what the heck is orvis? I gotta get out more.

I don't feel too bad about bombing - I was a free lunch ticket kid. When my age group was in prep school, I was in labor. Everything I know about preppies I learned from reading Love Story.

Who knew the preppies would get one more shot at making me feel inadequate?

I enjoyed the puzzle anyway, and I thought Muffy and Buffy and Skip and Chip were fun. Coulda still done without orvis, though. I was in good shape till I hit that one at the end. Forgetting to space between Ls was all on me.

Orvis is the maker of some of the finest fishing gear, especially fly fishing rods. Now it has been corrupted by yuppie puppies and their d&%#$* duck shoes.

I'll second that Tuzilla.

Hey Donna, don't feel bad about being a free lunch kid, I was just about there myself. My parents (including an immigrant father) labored very hard to put my brother and I through a very preppy private school, where I often felt the outsider, trying to emulate what I saw around me, as kids will do. I was sometimes mad at them because I didn't go to school with the rest of the kids from my blue collar neighborhood, but instead I was schoolmates with kids from a very exclusive enclave not far from us. Anyway, God love my parents for making so many sacrifices and, as I said, I never knew it would someday benefit me in a WP!!
Erin (This is better than therapy.... LOL)

Yeah, but no matter what you do they'll always know you don't really belong -- no Fs in your name!
