Can someone explain showdowns to me or post a link to where they are explained? I can't seem to find it....and I've gotten several challenges that I've ignored because i have no idea what to do with them.

Each week, you will receive ONE Showdown Token. These tokens may be accumulated and redeemed at your leisure. Showdown Tokens allow you (the challenger) to ?challenge? the Sploofus player immediately AHEAD of you on the current all time leaderboard (the challengee). If you redeem a showdown token, a notice will instantly be sent to the challengee. You and the challengee will then be given a random Sploofus question from the challengee?s current game play level. You will both be given the exact same question. The challengee then has 7 days to respond to your challenge. If he/she does not, you win the showdown. Otherwise, the player who answers the question correctly the fastest, wins. If you (the challenger) wins, you are credited 10% of the challengee?s total Sploofus Points; the challengee however does not lose those points. Only the challenger assumes risk with this system. If you (the challenger) loses, the challengee claims 10% of your total Sploofus Points. In the event of a stalemate (both the challenger and the challengee answer the question incorrectly) no action is taken.

Click on the showdown and answer the trivia question. If you get it right in less time than the challenger your points will go up 10 percent. An incorrect answer doesn't change your point total.
Always answer a showdown. You can't lose points but it is possible to gain a lot.

Wow, I got a nice surprise today! Five free wager tokens for my birthday! Cool!

Thanks for exlaining about chalneges. Now, about those challenge tokens -- where are they shown? I must have a bunch by now! And if I want to challenge someone, how do I do it?

Sorry to have to ask. I'm sure I must be blind or something but I can't find it. /-:

Also, sorry, but I still can't figure out how to answer the challenge I got in my mailbox. There is no respond.

Happy Birthday Lindy!

To respond to a challenge made against you, click on the 'Your Sploofus Space' on the far left of the menu near the top of the screen. Then look for 'Showdown Challenges' in the menu on the left side of the screen. When you click on that, you should see an option under 'Defense' that allows you to answer the challenge.

Good luck!

Happy Birthday, Lindy! If you click on Your Sploofus Space at the top left of the screen, go down and to the right to "Command Center", it will show how many Showdown Tokens you have and also if you have any Wager Tokens, along with some other info.

Aslan, you say "You and the challengee will then be given a random Sploofus question from the challengee's current game play level." Are you sure about that? I am on level 12 and the person immediately ahead of me is on level 43. It would be a scary thing to have to suddenly answer a level 43 question.

Zeedee: I got that straight off the site. I hope it's true too!

My understanding is that early on the sit had, or at least had planned, different levels of questions. There is no such thing right now. You both will just get a question out of the TQOTD pool.

(Of course the 8th word in the post above should be "site." Unless I miscounted.)

I have found that Showdown Challenges are a source of extreme frustration for me. I am often in areas with slow internet connection speeds, and I am definitely at a disadvantage when competing against someone in a time-based competition.

I timed myself once, and from the instant that the question popped up to the time I submitted the answer was 6.5 seconds, but the result showed that it was 9 seconds.

At the best of times I abhor speed based quizzes. I'd prefer more difficult questions that need some thought.

Just my 2c worth...

I agree with you wholeheartedly Marc. I still remember something from Justin about a Java based system that would equalize the playing field on time based features. There seems to be a deafening silence about the status of 2.0.

Having questions come from a general pot makes more sense to me than the idea of "levels." I always wondered how they would decide the level of a questions. Something that you learned in kindergarten, but that I never happened to ever hear of, would be an easy subject for you, but a very difficult one for me--so what level should that be?
