Remember the thread where we all guessed how many members there would be by the start of 2008?

Well I would just like to point out at this moment in time there are less players than there was in the middle of February.

Over tha last couple of months it did get up to above 27,000 but has deopped back down again, seems that we are losing more player than are coming in.

I know that I haven't been playing as much. I am very discouraged and disappointed in the way the Beta release was, and is being handled.

I know a lot of people feel the same way, but are not comfortable saying it in this kind of post.

Justin has said before that there's an automated program that removes dead accounts every so often. I'm not sure how often this "cull" takes place, but that's most likely the reason for the drop.

Just think about the many hundreds of people who get referred, sign up, then decide they didn't really want the daily TQOTD email after all (like my brother, Dave).

I guess that I did not get dropped because I was a paying member, because I did not visit the site for almost six months.

This is a result of my pulling the plug on Google AdWords marketing last month. The user drop off rate is ACTUALLY substantially LESS than it was six months ago. Now, there are simply fewer people coming in the door because I ain't got the revenue for a marketing budget (and even if I had I would hold it until the execution of 2.0).

I understand the emotions involved with the 2.0 situation. I am thankful that it has NOT resulted in any measurable harm to the Sploofus user base. Why would people leave their friends and games that they enjoy behind because there is a software release delay? The statistics tell me they wouldn't, but that isn't giving me any reason to slow down on 2.0 development - I'm just being diligent and realistic with myself - and have apologized for the missed dates.

Have a wonderful day!

I ain't goin' anywhere. Nor am I gonna complain about delays in 2.0; no, not even sploofquakes and expired rounds. I'm gonna trust you to be doing the best you can in trying circumstances, and support you all the way.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna continue to enjoy to the max the many pleasures of Sploofus and our happy, friendly community of somewhat like-minded souls. Just do what you do and don't worry about me, I'm fine and still damn glad to be here.

(at my age, I'm damn glad to be anywhere, nyuk nyuk)

Ditto that lady in the orange underwear, um, I mean jumpsuit. I inevitably miss Sploofus so much when I'm away from the internet, and always look forward to rejoining the fun upon my return. I can't imagine not "seeing" my wonderful Sploofus friends! You couldn't drag me away.

Let's cash a little reality check here. Anyone watching the Shout Box can see all the complaints about the Sploofquakes and expired rounds.

Pretending these are non-issues is disingenuous.

I may be a little put out by events, but I have the integrity to say it in public.

Ya know, anyone who's not happy with the expired rounds and such does not HAVE to play. As for me, I just roll with it and enjoy myself. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Justin. I ain't going anywhere either..
You want rid of me? Well just carry me off in the big, black box, 'cos until then, I guess you're stuck with me, for a heck of a long time..

I won't say I've never complained about expired rounds - I have - but that was before learning something about what goes on behind the scenes and what is being planned and worked on for the future. I may comment on an especially strong tremor, but now I roll with it and forget about it. I'm all over throwing my hands up and hurrying to the bulletin board to vent my snit. I firmly believe these MINOR problems are temporary, no big deal, and not an issue.

And the LAST thing I am is disingenuous.

I've really enjoyed this site more than any other (why I went gold after four months trial period). I will be happy when 2.0 is here, but until that happens I am very pleased to be a part of this.

When its all said and done...if the worst thing that happens to any of us is getting a good score quaked, then we should all go home happy.

It's an aggravation, but I will rest securely in the knowledge that it is being worked on as time and voluntary hours allow. It's sort of like my '63 pickup. It runs, but someday it will purr.

Had we but world enough and time.
