Is it just me or does it seem many people have quit playing the WordRounds and WordMatch games? I often visit these and and answer one question to intentionally finish last to count the number of players (that's really sad, I know). The highest total recently was 50 on a midday visit.

Many of the names that used to be regulars no longer show up on my occasional visits. I know why I quit playing these games, but was wondering why some of the greatest players at these games no longer play.

I'm not one of the greatest players, Felix, but I was getting better, and even upgraded to Platinum. I've had to back off from the Wordrounds; however, because playing so often, and possibly the position I was using with the mouse has given me a frozen shoulder, which I can't bend my arm behind my back.

Whenever I've checked in just before the buzzer and grabbed a 10% for 500 points, the score count I've seen has been pretty consistent: High 50s for the WRs and 40ish for the WMs. I'm not sure there's been any significant decline. Some people play less ... and are replaced by new blood.

I actually think that it is probably seasonal. The begining of the summer or even the whole summer is always a time when the internet slows somewhat. Families are going on vacation and doing outdoor activities.

I quit because my system is just too darn slow to get a decent showing and the flukes and expired rounds were getting too annoying.

I'm hoping that the promised Java version is here soon.

The continually expired WR's and WM's were a reason I quit playing for a long time. Plus, my mouse at work won't scroll like I want it so there's really no point in playing except for the 500 pts. I am getting busier in the evenings during the summer so I can't play as much. But the biggest obstacle for me is the expired rounds.

I only play them a couple of times a day but I only have that happen every once in a while. I had stopped playing when I was on dial up, but now that I have cable it is a lot better. I do still not get into the top 12 or so because I well let us just that my poor mouse is missing the ball so i move it with my fingers ( dont ask i have bought two new ones and they have both died in a relatively short period of time, yet this old one missing the ball I can not kill if I wanted to.

Good Q, Felix.

I am by no stretch of the imagination a great player, but I enjoyed practicing and achieving some level of proficiency to score in the “money”, so to speak. And I will most likely get interested again and hone my limited skills to strive for top-ten ranking in a WR or WM.

I tested the waters when I first went Platinum, and 50-something was the norm back then, too. (back in 2006).

I do enjoy seeing new players emerge with the sight-brain-hand skills (and maybe a great computer-internet connection, but that is probably, really, secondary). I see players pull back when it becomes tedious to them.

I think there are a few out there (you know who you are!) who can dominate from sheer talent! Fun that the times and boards change … keeps me coming back for more!

Everyone has a chance to excel… cool enough. But, all you people who do not try, please, please play WRs/WMs! Good source of points, which can make wagering and challenging more fun!
