DUPLICATES.....????

It,s time to dedicate the world series to Goldtiger, tired of quizzes that take 2 minutes to run off for points,I don,t even bother to try authoring quizzes anymore ,waste of time,I haven,t authored many but am discouraged over results, best one,s took time to make...rated low...silly one,s...yes I am guilty...did do some....top points....You can only run off so many in the same vein in one day before SOME get discouraged....maybe in need of self-restraint......points aren,t everything...try a little challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!Kathy

First of all, Goldtiger isn't the only one who writes alot of quizzes like this (I've done a few myself). Also, the fun of Sploofus is to be able to write quizzes for points (FITB) and write quizzes on stuff that interests you. I've written lots of movie FITB, but I've also written Bible quizzes and quizzes on books I love. I appreciate everyone who writes a quiz, even FITB, if it's accurate, because even FITB takes some thought-you have to come up with 4 wrong answers!

Second of all I didn,t come on here to argue or say Goldtiger was the only one ,today it was just so obvious,I am allowed an opinion as this is what a chat room is for...could be I touched a nerve.....take a look at the people on here that put" EFFORT "into their quizzes and get so disapointed at the results or being dropped out of site due to duplicates ,the priceless authors on here stand out like a sore thumb ,thank heaven for small mercies....just voiceing AN opinion not looking for a showdown I suck at them.....RESPESCTFULLY YOURS....Kathy

There's plenty of room for all kinds of quizes here. Ever since I joined, every month one or two people, in a effort to win the prize, flood the board. More power to them. Ultimately, that meanst that there are thousands of quizes here for our enjoyment--and especially for the enjoyment of the new members who want to go for the quiz taking prize.

On the average it takes me an hour to develop a quiz except for the occasional a fill-in-the blank. But, that's me. I don't expect the same for everybody.

I do have one objection, however, As a courtesy, people really shouldn't do 10 or 20 quizes at a time in the same category. It's more than discouraging to spend time writing a really great quiz and then have it bumped off the board in 15 minutes. However, I wouldn't make it a rule. The fewer rules on this, the better.

Thank you mindmonkey, I have done a couple of quizzes that I am proud of only to find that they can,t compete with the easy one,s or the duplicates, everyone laughs at the pick the fruit or green veggie but if you author one you will see that it just might make the top ten list???????????????My top quiz which I AM NOT PROUD OF IS MY HIGHEST RATED....PRETTY NEAR 50,000 POINTS......WAS A NEWBIE...DIDN,T KNOW ANY BETTER....RESPECTFULLY...Kathy

My goodness, my highest rates quiz hasn't received 5,000 points. To get 50,000...It's a dream, a fantasy, the penultimate thrill! Truly a life changing event! I thought I coudda been a contender....

I quit writing quizzes too. One that I had put time an effort into was blow off the board by a series of 20 something quizzes, (hi Phil) that had as little as four people take some of them. The effort it takes to write GOOD TIVIA is not worth it as long as some feel 5 peolpe taking 50 quizzes is better than 50 people taking 5 quality quizzes. It is so hard to look on the board and find 1 or 2 sincere quizzes. I do admire the folks that continue to roll the dice with one or two quizzes hoping they will be seen. Thank goodness for WordRounds and TQOFT to justify being a paying member. There is more than just one "clogger" out there. I am betting they do not care about anything other than potential points. I do want to say that there is a big difference in someone turning out a lot of different topics in quality work like my friend Vlcrowe and the people doing endless versions of list found by coping a website. So just as ratings a very subjective pinpointing the "cloggers" is as well.

Penultimate - somebody has been reading Lemony Snicket!!! Except in his book penultimate means "next to last"... There another meaning "Of or relating to the penult of a word", but WHAT does that really mean anyway??? Sorry, my daughter just finished reading the twelfth Lemony Snicket book, "The Penultimate Peril" and I just HAD to comment (She even made me make a quiz about the Lemony Snicket books!)

Thank you Felix for your kind words...You have made my day! I've only had about 3 quizzes out of the 800 and something I have written to even make the top 10! The points are good I'm not denying it but I write quizzes for fun and enjoyment. Something to help others and myself take our minds off the day to day grind. I look at it this way, if you like my quizzes fine if not fine! Some of them are easy and some not so easy so I figure I've did my share of both. Thanks all who've taken my quizzes and enjoyed them. Appreciate it very much!

Well, heck--sure 50,000 points will be my next to last thrill. Now, the question is--what will be the very last thrill....maybe breaking 17 seconds in world rounds....

I understand what everyone is trying to say.

I never submitted 20 quizzes in a row to any subject area, Felix.

Write as many as you want, vlcrowe. They're always enjoyable. I just wish you let me in on what country and western music is. Then I'd do better.

I've done over 20 American Indian quizzes, but they weren't all submitted at the same time. They all came online on a weekend. I worked a long time on them. Now, if it took them some time to get approved, or if no one else submitted one other quiz during that entire day in that subject, yes, many of them might have come online together. For that, I apologize. It was never my intent to push anyone's quiz off the list. They were also done in a format I no longer use. I copied a style I saw in other quizzes listed in the top ten.

I really enjoy writing quizzes. Hey, I am a writer. The material for the American Indian quizzes came from the book I wrote.

I agree, it is rude to totally swamp a catagory. But, even those quizzes are going to get bumped off the list.

This is what Sploofus has written on the Create A Quiz page:

"Sploof or be Sploofed!

Create your own Trivia Quizzes and challenge the entire Sploofus leaderboard!

You may create as many trivia quizzes as you would like, in as many topics as possible... so be creative and try to Sploof us!"

That could be taken as a challenge.

And finally, for what it is worth, I am sitting on over 20 quizzes right now, just so I do not jam a fast moving list. Some of these were finished over a week ago.

I have to say that I can relate with magnolia and felix. I too rarely write quizzes anymore because it wasn't worth the time spent on researching/doublechecking work. I have begun writing my "This Week In History" quizzes again, but that's about it (they usually only get about 20 takers - and I think it's the same 20 each week LOL!). I also was point hungry for a brief moment and wrote 3 "Animal, Vegetable, Mineral" quizzes. They are by far my highest point earners with between 150-217 takers each.
I find I have to sift among a lot of quizzes to find quality ones that I enjoy.

We've all seen this before, members (such as docshy, djkneegrow) that write loads and loads of quizzes and then disappear. It must be burnout. I say let it run its course, next month it will be someone different.
Maybe me, since I haven't written any this month. Watch out.
