HOW DID YOU FIND SPLOOFUS?
We started this interesting conversation in the WordRound Shout! about how we first found Sploofus.
I found our Island site by looking for presidential trivia questions for my cycling class. I wanted to honor President's Day and distract my class for an hour all at the same time. I've been here since!
How about you guys? How and why did you find Sploofus?

I had been playing "Wheel Of Fortune" and different games on the Internet, and just happened to type "Trivia" websites in the Google search bar. After I checked it out, I found all of Vlcrowe's country music quizzes, and thought I was in Paradise. That was about 1 l/2 years ago, and I've been addicted ever since. Can't wait for the Beta 2.0! Justin says it is dangerously close, but I have no idea how close that is.

I was just surfing the net way back when and sort of stumbled upon the site. I joined shortly after everything started...been here going on 3 years now. I was actually looking for music trivia when I found the island...

I used to get a "Trivia Question of the Day" from the Trivial Pursuit website and suddenly it just stopped. I tried signing up again but it still didn't happen. I punched TQOTD in Google and here I am ... and I love it! Along with my question of the day, the intelligent and wonderful people at Sploofus are the best! Thanks you all for being you!

My daughter made me do it! It's all her fault.
It's been a lifesaver and enriched my life with wonderful people. I love it. Still no trivia buff, but the people I've met here...PRICELESS.

I was looking for an opportunity to practice my trivia for the Trivial Pursuit game that we like to play with our friends. I have looked into several trivia based sites, but I have likes the set up for this site including the web design and ease of navigating the site. Then, later there was a Sploofus community, which I realized very soon is like no other group. Then, the addiction followed...

I was told about the site by a player on an AOL trivia board. That player is practically invisible on Sploofus, but she sure got me hooked!

I have no clue how I got here. I think it was my density.
I became a gold member when I wanted to do more Word Puzzles than the free membership allowed.
I became a platinum member the first time sploofus crashed and we needed more revenue for a new server.
Not sure what I am now.

I found this wonderful site in August of 2004 quite by accident. I played trivia on Pogo when it was free and many other sites like Treasure Island. One day I typed in trivia and Sploofus was one of the sites that popped up. I hadn't heard of it before so I checked it out and I've been here ever since. Sploofus was new back then and I think a lot of us old timers are still here. I went gold when the teams were started. Hey, I remember we won and I never did get that T-Shirt.

I was walking my dog in the Akramanan Park in Westchester County, the part by the water falls. I was in the dog park area, and I struck up a conversation with a wizened old man sitting on a bench with the oldest, sorriest, mangiest dog I'd ever seen. The old dog started sniffing my dog in that disgusting doggy greeting way I wish I could use at singles bars. I'm pretty sure that the ancient dog was begging my dog to rip his throat out and end his misery.
Anyway, I asked the old fellow about his dog, being as we were in a dog park and all. He sat back, gave a cackle, and said "Back in the war, I ran across a Brit by the name of Nigel. Saved my life in a V-2 raid on London in October '43. October 19, 1943. Young man, I hope you will never experience the terror that I did that day, pinned under a slab of concrete the size of a house, with a bucket of my intestines falling out and my skull fractured in two places."
The old man stared off into the middle distance for a long moment, then slowly turned his rheumy eye, ancient with wisodm, up to me, and said,
"....what the f*&k was the question again?"

I was on a chat forum, Woody's Lounge I think, and someone said it was bedtime but they were just popping over to Sploofus for a quick trivia fix first and it got my curiosity going - so I googled Sploofus and here I am.
Like many people, I went gold almost immediately to get the WPs and eventually became platinum - and here I am, eighteen months later!

I have just celebrated 2 years in this divine madhouse: the inmates understand me just like the voices in my head!
Seriously, I was introduced to Sploofus by another member, Philkon. Phil has his own website
, and I receive his newsletters. He has links to Sploofus in both. I was curious, followed the prompts, and here I am!
I found it totally frustrating to be a freebie member, so I went gold before too long. Another member (no longer with us) bought me the first platinum membership.
It has been an amazing experience: I have learned so much, but best of all I have made friends who mean the world to me.
Thanks to all those who have made the experience so memorable.

Smoke20: weird coincidence! I'd been going to pub trivia and was convinced the quizmaster was using a source, but I thought his answers were wrong sometimes. I googled around on some of his questions trying to find his lame source, and came up with this non-lame site (which was not the source, btw).
I've not been to pub trivia since!

I got an e-mail from a friend in August of 2004. Something like: "my brother's friend started this site- you should check it out!"
Netman and his sister do not play anymore as far as I can tell, but I'm stuck. At least I know where to find my mom now, day or night

I was assisted to the Island by my baby sister Faith who got here from her son, and now almost all of my family, and friends have relocated here as well. "There's no place like home, There's no place like home". From what great movie did this phrase originate lol? Trivia on. Rocco

Well, it was a wild night at the tent revival. The power went out and the cooler I keep my snakes in was getting warm...which meant the snakes were getting surly. Desparately I hit the Web looking for fast help on dealing with snakes. The site popped up, with a couple of quizzes on reptiles. By that time all the snakes had gotten away, so I had lots of time on my hands.
And here we are.

I was planning a web-based research project for my advanced acting students on American Realism. I always start them out with several web sites that I have checked first, and in my google search I found a quiz here. I immediately wrote my own on a theatrical topic and have stayed ever since. Also assigned my students to log in here too!

I got sucked in by my sister and brother-in-law aka Queentxf and twoxfourman. They were playing at my house one night and I was intrigued, became a free member and while I was considering an upgrade (so that I could play more word puzzles) they gave me a gold membership as a present. By the time my 6 month membership was up I was a complete and total addict and have continued to renew ever since. Sherry

I plugged into Google, looking for a Trivia site and investigated Sploofus.
Listened and watched for a while.......because I had been on other sites
where members sniped and quarrelled anonymously.
Loved what I saw, and stayed forever....

I live in Lambertville, a tiny town near Adrian and Toledo. Read about Justin in the Toledo Blade. Since I'm a big trivia buff I thought I'd check out the site, of course I'm hooked. I answer my QOTD and read through the Chats because I'm so busy with other things I love (grandkids). I love this site. Even though I don't take quizzes as often as I used to I'm enormously entertained by the very funny, witty and intelligent members on my favorite site. What a treasure we have in Justin!

I was playing with some map/geography quiz site and came across a link.
I just tried googling "trivia sites" and didn't find Sploofus in the first several pages of links. I googled "trivia question of the day" and didn't get Sploofus until page 5. It seems to be not too easy to find by googling.

I was just Googling for trivia question prompts for my own pub quizzes and hit on the site.
Didn't realise until later that it was within days of the launch and that I was number 64!
Now coming up to 36,000 - unbelievable. But so well deserved.
A really great combination of trivia taking, writing and chat.
