Well - I'd been saving up my wagers, and had two TQOTD's today in my best and most proficient categories - lost them both, so I've tumbled down the board - usually don't bet max but thought what the heck....

Oh well, like in Whose Line is it Anyway - I'm going to just think "points don't matter points don't matter" - maybe if I say it long enough it'll be true LOL

I know the sick feeling you get when that happens. I've done it a few times myself. It passes in a couple of days. You will be back up there in no time.

Chin up, girlfriend, I lost two 400+ millions back to back and lived to play another day. My very first wager loss was 15M - I'd gotten cocky by then and it was a rude shock to my system. I walked from room to room gasping for breath and flinging f-bombs; scared the dogs; cried like my boyfriend left me. I'm ashamed of it but I did. It gets easier.

It'll be okay - don't let it make you scared.

I think you are entitled to a period of mourning. Those points are hard earned ... we all know. Mourning can include a short Southern Comfort and maybe a couple of hugs from your kids. You could consider writing a quiz about the great loses in world history, including the periods of mourning that followed like Queen Victoria's loss of Albert and Jackie's despair in Dallas.

There is every reason to believe that you will get the points back and you will be just fine. In fact, by next May 18 you will have so many wager tokens, you will no doubt be in the top 50. However, it is quite possible that you will be in the top 100 long before your next birthday.

Allena, like Smoke, lost two max wagers in two days ... and is still in recovery but is climbing back. Check it out. The graph says it all. Then check out one of the Allena quizzes written during this period of mourning ... especially "How the Colonies Lost against the British" ... a History quiz wherein George Washington lost many battles but won the war. Hang in, it is worth it. JIM

You certainly have my sympathy, Lorri! I got brave and wagered 2 million, not at the same time, but within a few days of each time, and so far, it's stopped my wagering, but I admire the brave souls who do. Probably will take me awhile to get my nerve back up. Thought maybe I could use the saved wagers for Beta 2.0 if there is anything they could be used for.

I can't explain the reasoning for it but I go to the casino and always bet the max on the slots no matter if it's a quarter machine or a dollar one. I have had some jackpots but for the most part I lose. Now, when it comes to a QOTD bet I sit and think hard and wind up betting a percentage of the max. I did bet a million points recently and won but I hesitated. (Sports Soup is the only category I wager on). When it comes to real money I'm "Macho Man" but Sploofus points makes me a real "Wally the Wimp".

I hate it when good categories go bad. I had a token when my birthday 5 arrived. I was rubbing man hands with visions of leaps and bounds on the chart. By the time I used them I had gained a new level, so I had 7 in play over a couple weeks. I wen 4-3 with them, so for all practical purposes the birthday 5 was a losing lotto ticket.

You'll get them next time.

Remember, we all run into (for us) bad questions every now and then, even in the categories we're best at. You have to think of the ride like the stock market -- You'll have good days and you'll have bad days, but in the long run, you'll be broke, and some pimply faced pencil-pusher who made off with your money will be buying a small Caribbean island.

Ok, maybe not the best analogy, but the sentiment is there. Nail 10 TQOTDs and you'll have another token, and odds are you get a big chunk back in one swell foop.

A month from now, when you're sitting on twice the points and sneering at people who are huzzahing their first millionth point, it'll all seem like a distant dream!

Better days ahead.

I have no problem losing legitimately, other than feeling stupid. It's when there's a system malfunction that I pitch a fit. Fortunately, I've had good response from the support tickets and those are remedied; there is no remedy for one's own screw ups. It still doesn't make you feel much better. You will, however, be on top of the world again when Jupiter is in Venus opposing Mars - two years from now.

Yup, it sure does make you feel and for days when you have a big loss like that, whether it is a wager or showdown that caused the points-haemorrhage. Keep telling yourself: "It is NOT arms'n'legs, family, friends or dollars"!

I lost approx. 4.5 million on my last wager. After I let out a good scream, I was able to get most of it back with two showdowns using "what the hell" answers.

All this is exactly the reason I've never wagered more than 1000 points on one of these things, even if it's my best category. A gambler I'm not!

Tallactor, we wouldn't be much fun in a casino .. I just moved up a level (which is the only time I wager) and I bet 500 -- and won. Then wished I had bet more, but I'm far too cautious. You'd think those points were real money as jealousy as I guard them. Those of you who can make the big wagers, more power to you. Just wish I had your nerve.

That's pitiful, you guys. By protecting yourself from the momentary sting of a hefty loss, you deny yourself the thrill of a big win. Where else can you be a high roller if not here with worthless points?
