I lost two dear friends in the past year to cancer. I know this is so hard for you, too, Karen. Bless you for your love and support of your friend and her family. Prayers of Sploofus friends will be going out today to give her comfort and peace as your friend prepares to leave this earthly life. And prayers for you, Karen, as you grieve for the loss of a longtime and loved friend.

A prayer for your friend, and a prayer for strength for you Karen.
Sometimes it's harder to lose a friend than a family member.

May God bless and comfort you, your friend and her family. Remember that you are all in the palm of his hand! I wonder why you are trying to transport her to a hospital. If there is a way to have Hospice come in, then she could stay home surrounded by her family and friends. Hospice is generally excellent--medical expertise combined with compassion plus caring support for the patient's loved ones.

For sure I'll be praying for your friend. God Bless Her. I also pray that they will soon find a CURE for cancer. It must be the worst disease in the world.

Hi Karen, my heart goes out to you, your friend and family. I lost one of my closest friends to cancer a few years back. I know what its like. She had liver cancer at first. We all kept her in good spirits and encouraged her. The cancer went into remission for a few months, then it spread to her brain. We took turns sitting with her and entertaining her at the hospital. At times, it was almost a quiet party atmosphere. She was more concerned about us feeling bad. The cancer progressed to the point where she could hardly wake up. She still had a smile for us. Finally they airlifted her to be closer to her family in another city. It was hard on her, but she knew where she was and was happy to be there. It gave her comfort. It made a difference.

My thoughts and prayers are with your friend, her family and you.

Cancer is so limited...

It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.

Valerie, that is beautiful and really so true. A dear friend who died in March of cancer was a perfect example of all of those things. Thank you for sharing it.

Karen, I hope you can give us an update.

I will pray for you and your friend.

There are many things worse than death... I lost a dear friend w/brain tumor last spring. She didn't come out of coma after surgery but lingered for about a month. One night I stroked her arms, told her how we loved her and that we would survive if she left us. I told her goodbye. And she died. A relief but heartbreak as she was raising grandchildren and had NOT made provisions for anyone regarding last rites, power of attorney, etc. including her husband. I miss her dreadfully but she no longer has pain.

So many of us have cancer stories and it truly touches all of our lives. Instead of a trillion dollar war, think of what might be accomplished with that money if we were to dedicate ourselves to wiping out this and all diseases. Blessings on all who are going through horrific times with those they love, and may they find peace.
