JK Rowling is going to be interviewed at her home in Scotland by Meredith Viera on the Today Show on Thusday and Friday mornings.

Thought you'd like to know.

Tks for the info Smoke - I hear she's the third richest woman in the world. Oprah, by the way, is number one.

Pretty good trivium, right there. Who's #2?

I can only take Meredith Viera for about 1/2 hour. The sound of her voice makes me want to take a baseball bat to my tv screen. It might be hormonal.

Pretty sure there's a bitty pink pill you can take to level that out for you, Leah.

Correction: the interview is in Edinburgh Castle. I saw some clips - she's quite emotional about the end of it all.

Hey Joanne - Oprah and JK are the richest women in entertainment. The lady who owns L'Oreal has billions more than both of them put together, and the Walton ladies are way up there too.

I suggest basballing the speakers, instead.

Are these rich women looking to adopt?

Potterheads? I always wondered why reading HP gave me the munchies.

Run down to Diagon Alley and pick up some Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans". That'll take care of those munchies, Eesus. :D

If you or your kids are Potterheads (and keep this a secret, but even my snobby literary scholar of a husband is a closet Potterhead), then you can find info at On the mugglenet home page, there is a listing of recent news. There are links to the Viera (sp) interview and to a live chat Rowling did through her U.S. publisher where she answered children's questions about book 7. Both give info about characters' fates. Quite fun to read.

Of course there's a lot of drivel on the site (fan fiction, silly forum chat, etc.) but it is extensive, it is sanctioned by Rowling, and the news links and some other features are useful.

Do any of these women have single sons because I think my husband would be willing to loan me out.

You're right Smoke - they are the richest women in entertainment business. I think Madonna is up there with them as well. As for the other ladies, Walton and L'Oreal heiress, WOW. They are really really rich. I can't imagine having all that dough. But I can always try. LOL.

And now for a little trivia ... Without checking on Google, do you know what the J.K. in her name stands for? First one to answer wins ... nothing!

Smoke, thanks for the warning. I'll never understand why more people don't like you.

Suzanne - I know! I know! Her first name is Joanne, and the K. is cause it sounds good, I guess, but stands for nada.

Man, if I could write like that, and have her publicist and agent, I would put loads of initials in my name.

From Wikipedia:~

Although she writes under the pseudonym "J. K. Rowling", she actually has no middle name

She is, however, credited on the inside of the book jacket of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as "Joanne Kathleen Rowling".

One more thing, Smoke. I watched the NBC Dateline interview with JK Rowling conducted by Meredith Viera. Meredith Viera admitted to reading the end of the book FIRST, once again proving to me what a freakin' idiot she is. Ms. Rowling looked like she wanted to throttle her!
OK, I'm done.

After six Harry Potter puzzles in the last two weeks or so, I am about to barf. I hope the subjects go on to something more interesting! Thanks for letting me spout.

It's possible Meredith Viera has no more interest than I do, and only read what she thought would assist her interview. I really just watched to see the Edinburgh shots, fun to see them walking on the parapet of the Castle looking down on Princes Street. Rare nice weather too, from the look of it, in spite of the wind. I watched all the spoilers and I've never read the books. They didn't give a lot away, really. I already knew things that they didn't say in the show, even in the spoilers.

I thought it was interesting to hear something from this young woman who is in the extraordinary position of knowingly having created a classic; she interests me more than her books do at this point. She impressed me with the repect she has for her characters and their power over the readers. She seems very keen to the responsibility, both to the characters and the readers. What must it be like, to know you've written something that generations will read and revere, something that will have a lasting influence on peoples' lifelong approach to books? Did you notice how much easier it was for her to have eye contact with the kids than with the camera or Viera?

Smoke, I did notice that! I find her fascinating! And the scenery was so beautiful.

I like Meredith. She was great on 60 Minutes and I think she's better than Katie Couric on Today.

Ann Curry is the one who I find irritating. Ever notice that when she interviews someone, her questions are so long the interviewee has nothing left to answer when she's finally done?

We all have our favorites. I don't like the puns or the quotes puzzles but I love the Potter puzzles!

This will most likely outrage many-usual outcome of my posts but.... I never liked the Harry Potter books (tried 2) nor any of the movies I have seen. I too am rather sick of Harry Potter puzzles-sorry, had to say it-Linda

I don't hate Harry Potter, I hate high scores! When I get a bunch of long, oddly spelled named I'm unfamiliar with, rather than guess letters and lose points, I make guesses with possible spellings at 3 points a miss. Saves my points but runs the score through the roof.
