LET ME TELL YOU WHAT MY HUSBAND DID!

We have a heat index of 101 today in Atlanta, GA, and our air conditioning went out.

My husband figured out the sump pump for the air conditioning burned out. He went to Home depot and got another sump pump, and replaced it. I was scared silly he would make things worse, but, he did great. I apologized profusely for ever doubting him, and told him he could play with the remote control as much as he wanted.

I'm jealous! Think we could clone him. I've had the new taps to replace the leaking one in my bathroom since last December, still not done. But he did take them out of the box & looked at them the other day.

He also does the dishes. I also wish my cats weren't so jealous of him.

Personally, I think he should be allowed to play with a lot more than a remote ...

My husband was out of work for 6 months - during that time I didn't have to do laundry or dishes - what a honey!

He's now back at work - a mixed blessing, I'd say.

I have a mixed blessing as well - Big John does all the laundry. Sure, he ruins a favorite tee shirt and shrinks something from time to time, but it's mostly okay. We had a moment when he bleached my autographed Richie Havens shirt but we never talk about that anymore.

Scott and I have sort of an understanding - the inside of the house is mine, the outside of the house is his, although he does pitch in and help me from time to time. We share the cooking duties. And every time I start to grumble about having to do most of the housework and laundry, despite the fact that we both work, I remember the times he fixed the well, built the fences, built my greenhouse, took care of our horses that died, he always puts in all the hay, and removes all the rotting deer carcasses from the garage that our dog Clyde brings home.

Trust me, laundry and housework for 6 months straight is not equivalent to one rotting deer carcass in the garage.

Personally, I think your saintly husband could have gotten more out of this deal.
However, not a good deal to overplay the evnt. Now if I screw up the laundry badle will I get a different job at home? Probably the litter box. I guess I'll stick with what I've got - cooking.

The litter box is not a problem if you get a littermaid.

I would have no problem at all getting rid of a rotting carcass. The reprieve from doing laundry and such was heaven for me.

Different strokes, I guess!!!

(Which for those who don't know is a brand of automatically self-cleaning litter tray.)

... Or an Omega Rollaway - a similar but semi-automatic version!

Haha! I know who to call next time I open the garage door and the smell knocks me back into the kitchen.

When my hubby went to town yesterday, I started removing the grout, then the tub surround, thus forcing him to replace all the taps in my bathroom. Should have thought of this months ago. Yes Allena, there will be a reward.

Randy - dare I ask what that reward might be.......in the wake
of Allena's "Science of Sex" quiz. He proved himself to be both
knowledgable and (hopefully)symmetrical - and just a tad sexist!!!!

Does any woman author out there feel like writing a quiz about
what women require in a man, including BMI and WHR ???????

Does that mean you sometimes comment on his remote control usage? (shudder) Evil! Evil woman!

I wouldn't dream of commenting on anyone's use
of a remote control....that's what multiple TVs are for.
What I was commenting on, was that men concentrate
so much on the VISUAL aspects of women. Especially in these
days of "Heroin Chic" and Anorexia.
And there was a lot in that quiz about first impressions and
physical attributes.

Now, now, men are different. There may be different attributes that different men value more.

I can't speak to the contrary personally, since my wife is a little hundred pound waify slip of a thing. But if I were to remarry I might go for big...I mean, different attributes.

That's a fun story, Missgeorge!

I sometimes think that the odd fix-it jobs around the house should have a difficulty star-rating based on number of trips to Home Depot ...

Your husband probably did a 5-star job with one visit!
